Hi All;

Excuse... me, those of you who are regulars to the boards know two things about me. 1) I don't post very often and 2) I try to stay away from the shameless plugs... but PayPal got my fur up BIG TIME by making a very misleading statement and apparently sending it out to all their customers.

My note to Damon is below and self-explanitory.

Had they said "and while free to sellers, BidPay charges fee's to the buyers" then, we wouldn't have a problem with it.

Not like they don't know what our business model is...

But the way they worded it and the context they used it in caused us to get FLOODED with emails saying "NOT YOU TOO" I just heard you were going to be charging the sellers $5... and that is COMPLETELY UNTRUE!

Below is my note to Damon...and PayPal

Thanks

Marek

TOTAL B.S.

This is Marek from BidPay and PAYPALDAMON this message is directed at you!

"You, meaning PayPal mailed this information to your customers?"

AND BIDPAY CHARGES $5.00 !!!!!!!

You are waaaaaaaay "WAY" over the line here.

The context of your message is CLEAR "fee's to SELLERS"... you quote x.com (which charges fee's to sellers), you quote Billpoint (which charges fee's to sellers) and then... you quote, pardon me...

YOU MISQUOTE "and BidPay charges $5.00"

THAT IS A CROCK DAMON AND "YOU KNOW IT"

That is designed to be misleading and deceiptive and WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR A RETRACTION AND CLARIFICATION IN WRITING BY THE SAME METHODS THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE WAS DELIVERED.

COUNT ON IT !!!!

BidPay DOES NOT CHARGE THE SELLERS "ANY" FEE's.

WE NEVER HAVE

WE NEVER WILL

PERIOD, PLAIN AND SIMPLE

NO FANCY DOUBLE TALK

NO MISLEADING OR SUGGESTIVE STATEMENTS

ALL WE OFFER SELLERS IS A 100% PAYMENT GUARANTEE WITH "NO CHARGEBACKS"

Michelle G "moderator".. before you get to it: I did post this on two other boards and I just wanted Damon to know I am not personally agry at him and in fact have enjoyed his postings. It is the company he works for that has me upset and that is where I shall direct my efforts.

Thanks

Marek

PayPal isn't your competition. Nor are any of the other pay services that allow electronic transfers person to person in the US.

http://www.energyflow.com is your competition.

uaru:

We would never refer to PayPal as competition, but they made a misleading statement about our company that would appear to have been clearly designed to be disceptive and in fact since we share many of the same customers we got a considerable amount of email from sellers who were worried that we would be imposing fee's as a result of the misleading message they got from PayPal which refers to our services.

If I make the statement and AOL charges $19.95 and MSN charges $23.95 and NetZero charges $26.95 so we AOL are the best deal for you...

But ( I FORGOT ) to mention is that NetZero is ACTUALLY free for users to access and the $26.95 is what they charge for advertising...

I think you would agree that is misleading.

As I said on another board, had PayPal said "and BidPay WHILE FREE TO SELLERS does indeed charge a fee of $5 to the buyer"... then we would have had no problem with the statement.

Thanks

Marek

gomarek, I think you are missing the point here. Paypal simplifies payments for the buyer as much as for sellers. I am a large volume seller & I accept various form of payments from checks, money orders & recently Paypal. Retailers or large volume buyers can pay me using their credit card.

I accept all this form of payment for conveniance for my buyers. As for me, it doesn't matter one way or another. Money is money no matter what shape or form. I still accept checks because some customers prefer paying by checks even though there is a holding period.

And yes I do accept Bidpay too. Bidpay is fine except they charge $5 for the buyer. Its a lot cheaper for them to buy a money order or write a check. The only people who use Bidpay for me are International customers.

Yeah Bidpay is fine for you but how many people would pay $5 for a money order...let me put it this way...would you use Bidpay as a buyer. To be a seller you got to think like a buyer.

Anyone here runs a business, they know how expensive it is to operate a shop & accept credit cards.

Let me just add, I've told most of my long time customers to simply write a check or go to 7-eleven and buy a MO for 75 cents & mail it in to me. For pete's sake if they are going to waste money on fees, they might as well waste it by paying me more for my auctions.

I agree 100% - PayPal was misleading in that statement.

Also, just want to add that I've been truly amazed by how quickly I'm receiving the money orders from BidPay. The last half dozen have been received within a week of confirmation. All were international sales which seems to be the BidPay niche - and one I'm thrilled with as are my buyers.

I use and suggest Bidpay to all of my international buyers. I have had nothing but excellent results using it.

I might add that I have never had a U.S. customer use it. I don't think one ever will because of the $5.00 fee.

The Bidpay logo is in all my auctions along with others.

Thanks for the excellent service!!!

I've been using Bidpay for some time now, never had a problem with them either. Most people who use it are my International customers - however, I've gotten quite a few US buyers who use it - which blows my mind - I don't understand why ANY U.S. buyer would choose to pay $5 than use a service like Paypal - or even send a money order!

valerie47, that's exactly my point. I believe that the cost of doing an International Bank Draft can be very expensive for my international customers. Some have even gone as far as mailing me cash but they do 'Register' the letter.

As for US buyers using Bidpay, sure I would gladly accept them but then again its the buyer that control the type of payment.

People think Paypal or Billpoint charging 1.9% fee (or whatever that might be) is very high. What about $5 fee for a $25 money order?.

And let me ask you, situation....2 buyers having an auction at the same time for 2 similar items. One seller has strict rules about only accepting cash, checks & money orders. Does not accept any form of online payment. 2nd seller accepts Paypal & other standard form of payments. Shipping cost..ohh about the same.

Who do you think will get more looks?. Sellers who make it restrictive for buyers to buy by having excessively high shipping cost & rules are only pushing customers away. Unless you are selling a one of a kind unique item like great grandma 100 year old tea pot, you know you have tough competition. So I dare any seller out there who puts in their auction..'I want Bidpay only'.

Dear Comic123;

What BidPay saves our buyers is time and usually anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour of it...something most people think is well worth the small cost we charge them.

Since we both accept (and send) payments internationally it also allows buyers to keep their information in a single secure location and send a payment anywhere in the world without the seller having to establish an account.

I think as a seller you will agree that "many buyers" pay you extra fee's" for shipping because they want the item FASTER.

Paying an extra $6-15 for Priority or Next day delivery is a cost the buyer is willing to pay because they want the item FASTER.

They saying "time is money" was never more true than it is in today's fast pased world.

Thanks

Marek
