For anyone who has been told by their PO that items sent with Delivery Confirmation will be left in an unsecured mailbox or who has had these items left in an unsecured mailbox or on your doorstep, please contact your postmaster and have him review USPS guidelines for delivery of DC mail. I just checked on my last batch of shipments, and TWO of them showed that delivery had been attempted, a notice to call for the item at the PO had been left, and that the item would be returned to me if it could not be delivered to the recipient or remained unclaimed at the PO. Apparently the intent of this service IS that the item will be delivered to SOMEONE, and not just left lying around where anyone can pick it up.

In a perfect world....Just had a video box left last week in an unsecured mail box and the customer said it was pure luck he got it as his mail is often stolen.

I only know that when DC first came out, and I bought from sellers who used it, if the package fit in my mailbox, it was put there, if it didn't, it was left at my doorstep. Never had one hand delivered. I've come home to find packages with DC on my doorstep. Too many times. So I've never used it, seems like a waste of .35 cents. That is just my expierence with it.

I figure that, as long as they THINK we don't know any better, they'll behave accordingly. I happen to have a super PO to work with, but if that weren't the case, I'd be in their faces constantly about not following standard operating procedures, especially regarding matters like allowing mail to be stolen.

BTW, is anyone else having problems with the edit boxes on the boards tonight????

Most of my experience with DC has been favorable. I use it whenever I have something of value as proof of mailing, which is hard to dispute. Most of the time it is reliable for confirmation of delivery.

Just my two cents worth...The two times I used delivery confirmation, and tried to check on delivery on usps website, it always came up there is no record of that transaction. I had buyers confirm delivery, but the info never was confirmed to me by the post office so what's the point? A waste of .35 in my (worthless I know) opinion

If it's not showing up on the website, that means it's not getting scanned. My PO people do that as I watch. If yours aren't, go right on over there and slap their hands and have your customers do the same at their PO for not scanning them on receipt!
