Auction ended Wednesday. Buyer wrote with mailing information and said they were paying with PayPal. Friday and nothing at PayPal. Three things could have happened, They just haven't got around to it. They changed their mind and are sending a check or they sent it to the wrong e-mail address. Had a buyer last month pay with PayPal, didn't send a separate note telling me he had sent it and then 10 days later was wondering why he hadn't received merchandise. He had sent to wrong address, we got that straighted out, but I don't want to go through that again. I also don't want the buyer to think I'm hounding them for payment two days after the auction. So my two questions are how long would you wait before recontacting the buyer and how would you word it so that they don't think you're either demanding they send the PayPal payment immediately or even worse, that you think they might have been too dumb to have gotten the e-mail address right. I've always gotten great advise from this board before hope you can help.

Here's what I'd send:

Hi Bob!
Following your email, I checked my PayPal account and don't show any payment from you as yet. No problem, but I just wanted to touch bases in case you DID already send, and it didn't show in my account.
This happens occasionally, and the most common reason is a typo in the email address the payment was sent to. So, if you did send, could you check and make sure you sent it to:

What magazine_guy said. ^^^
I send a message almost exactly like that if I don't get the buyer's PayPal payment. It hasn't caused any problems that I'm aware of, and the buyers have all responded right away.
