See "Mad Feedback Bomber" alter:

http://remarq.ebay.com/ebay/transcript.asp?g=discuss%2Eebay%2Efeedback&tn=22828&sh=fd1363f8b9fe44b5&idx=-1

I have two questions:

1 - How can ebay let someone with a -12 keep bidding like this?

2 - Does ebay really allow you to give a negative feedback just minutes after an auction? I thought you had to wait a week. Has this changed?

The sad thing is, he snipes and you don't have a chance to cancel hid bid. I can't believe that it has taken ebay this long to shut him down. Heather

He isn't still bidding - the last bid he placed was at 4 in the morning. He left all the negs between immediately after, and didn't reach -4 until 5 in the morning. (After he reached -4, he would automatically be prevented from bidding.) The auctions that haven't closed yet were bid on Sept. 23.

The seller has to wait a week to begin the NPB process. I THINK - but I'm not sure - that there is a one-week wait for NEW accounts before they can leave feedback ... but his account is 12 days old.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Is he doing it for a (sick) laugh, or is he this angry with eBay or an eBay user?

Scary though! I'm certainly no psychologist, but the image that popped in my mind was of the same kind of deranged personality that would take a gun into a fast food place and open fire on strangers.

Interesting thing.....while I was reviewing some of his comments, the feedback "functionality" went belly-up. Can't assume there's any connection though, as it does that pretty regularly anyway.

Uhhhh....did anyone invite him here? (KIDDING!!!!)

Although eBays feedback "funcutionality" is down right now, I was able to locate the FB left BY this person.

I am really quite concerned that eBay has not already done something to have the comments removed from over 25 different accounts! I would have thought they would have some sort of "proceedure" to handle something like this. If they don't I bet they do in the future!

I also imagine this thread will be locked because even I (quite non-techno) was able to pull up all the negs left by this person. Learned how to do that here!

The -4 negative rating shutdown is not automatic (dunno why, but it isn't). It must be reported, and Safe Harbor shuts the person down when they become aware of it. As pointed out, if this happened at 5 a.m., it might take them a while, even if reported to [email protected].

According to the post on the Ebay boards, the feedback contained profanity and racist comments, all of which should justify feedback removal under Ebay guidelines. Hopefully Ebay will check out all the feedback this person left and remove it without being asked, but if they don't, then all the recipients have to do is request that it be removed. The sad thing is, now all these sellers have botched auctions--they either have to relist or sell to the 2nd bidder in "off-Ebay" transactions.

Feedback can be left by either party immediately after a transaction ends, as shown by this example....maybe that's what the mad bomber was trying to do? Rather an ugly, stupid way to do so, but he did make his point.

sulyn1950: It's only been 10 hours, probably less than that since somebody reported it, and it's Sunday. They do have a procedure for handling things like this, but I don't think they figure removing offensive feedback is mission-critical.

Pickersangel: No, when a rating reaches -4, the account is automatically prohibited from bidding and such. You are correct that NARUing must be done manually, after it is brought to their attention, however.

Pickersangel-You are right about the current proceedure. However, this bombing started in the "wee" hours, and apparantly was reported early BUT it still continued on AND apparantly NOTHING has been corrected so far. Unless, that is WHY the FB functionality is DOWN right now.

Maybe this person WAS trying to make a point and maybe they were sucessful. Seems like eBay needs to "create" a "master delete key"?

Glenda-I personally think 10hours is MORE THAN ENOUGH time to correct this problem EVEN on a Sunday. Since weekends and holidays are probably the "busiest" time for eBay, I would think they would have MORE techs NOT less. If they don't, they SHOULD. I would also consider something like this CRITICAL! We are not talking about one or two negs here! His record shows 29 out of 31! Some were multiple to the same sellers! As Pickersangel indicated, this definetly points out a MAJOR flaw in the FB system. I just hope eBay corrects the flaw.

Although this person has been NARUed, the FB left by this person is still on the sellers FB files. I just checked again. As far as I could tell NONE of the comments have been deleted yet. That is my concern.

Just MHO, if a person gets NARUed, all the FB comments left by them should go with them!

If I understand the current system correctly, they just become neutrals.

sulyn - Ebay changed their policy on that some time ago. It USED to be when a person is NARU'd that their comments to others become neutrals - but no more. Once NARU'd the feedbacks they have left remain unchanged. I also am interested in finding out wether ebay will retract these NEGS from this guy since they were obviously done in a malicious manner.

I am sure that ebay will remove all the profane and racist feedback. (give them time)

I once read that a high bidder gave feedback before the auction was over. (functionality problem?)

This is obviously a disturbed kid wreaking random havoc. Some of the complaints he left have already been removed.

His " feedback left " has been obliterated.
