I'm not sure how to remove a label from a CD. I bought a Playstation CD from a video store that is going out of business(hate to see-but....) and it has a heavy duty "property of..." label on the front. Has anyone remove these before? What about that stuff they sell in the commercials and on HSN? Can't remember the exact name but it is supposed to remove anything like that without damaging the item. Does it work? Any suggestions? I don't want to scratch it-besides it's got great art on the front

Lighter fluid!

wet a chunk of papr towel with the fluid, and let it soak the label ... test after a few minutes and if it's not loose, add more fluid. Eventually it will get to the adhesive, especially if y0u slowly loosen the label and let the lighter fluid get under the edges.

I agree 100%. Lighter fluid is by far the best thing I've ever used to remove adhesive.

In art supply stores they sell adhesive release. Excellent product.

Goo gone is great; anything with adhesive also seems to respond to cooking oil, but it's a tad messy.

Whatever kind of cleaning solution you use, be sure not to get it on the back of the CD.

If you don't have any GooGone or lighter fluid around the house, the best thing to use is mayonaise. The acid in it helps dissolve the adhesive, and the oil keeps it from resticking. Just spread it on and let it sit for an hour or so. Sounds crazy, but it works. I used this once on an apartment bathtub, to remove the adhesive from those non-stick things in the tub.

WD-40 will often work, though I prefer goo-gone.

And never! never! acetone (nail polish remover)
It dissolves the plastic.
