I read somewhere today (was it my local paper?) that according to survey - online
holiday shoppers have very high expectations this year. First thing I thought was that it was because of US. Auction sellers.
Then this afternoon I got an email from an online retailer stating that my order (a large one placed 3 days ago) had shipped.
Good enough.
Two hours later, a new mail.
This one says that as a matter of fact, actually only one item had shipped, and the others were out of stock. Naturally it was the one item I added to my order as an afterthought because there would be no additional shipping.
Darn it! Now I have something I barely want, that I am paying 50% of the cost to ship. Obviously this is not acceptable - 85% of my order is canceled and it is only September.
What are these dimwits going to do when December arrives?

VeryModern!
I tell U tht the e-tailers are JERKZ!!
I had that happen to me, too!
You put together an order for several items, to justify the s/h/i -- and then those MISERABLE wannabee retailers send you a cherRy "Your Order is Shipped" -- and then they email you LATER, when you are NOT allowed to CANCEL the order, that only one item was available -- it's always the 1/2 or 1 ounce item that is in stock, weighs a feather, but you get stuck with the $5 shipping charge for an item that might cost a buck locally.
So help me!
Those miserable retailer-WANNABEES are scaring people off from buying on the Internet.
And then there was the time I was sent OUT OF DATE pet food, and that miserable retailer-wannabee had the GALL to lie to me, that alla their bags were marked that way and they were FRESH, and not post-dated.
SOooooooo.... I spent HOURS of my precious time, as that MISERABLE retailer-wannabee thought that I was going to use that miserable stale post-dated pet food?
No way!
Thank gawd the manufacturer was online, and deciphered the full code, and assured me that when I read MARCH 2000, that that was what it meant, and that no, the food was NOT considered FRESH in April 2000.
I tell you, that the MISERABLE vulture capitalists who funded these miserable online retailer-WANNNABEES who've tried to STEAL ****our**** eBay bidders from US --- I get very werry DISGUSTED with alla them!!!
They have done a remarkable diservice to online shopping, which will take years to recuperate from, and will all only be remedied by eBay sellers, who we all know not merely are very g00d l@@king, but invariably always above average, lol!

Well, whatever items on my gift list that I can't find through my own sources for auctionable stuff, I do plan to buy via online auction. Actually I also plan to make some of my Christmas presents- but I did buy all my pattern books for the stuff I'm making from Ebay & Yahoo.
Incidentally, I tried to buy one pattern book through Amazon.com's Z-shops, but had the same thing happen to me that VeryModern had happen with her online E-tailer- credit card charged, hopes up, then later credit card refunded, item had been sold already. That was my first, and most likely last, amazon z-shop purchase.

and then there was the book seller who shipped me a 2 year old price guide (one is released every year, and I bought current) and told me they were *made that way*. I got my money back but holy cow, it takes a month an 30 emails.

I had one guy who's high tech phone volume plan was to leave the phone off of the hook.
I finally reached him and he said to call him "tomorrow" which was a 12 hour day of busy signals. 30-40 emails later I made sure the order was canceled, what a nightmare.
I bought locally, sheesh.
So far eBay has been waaaaay more satisfying.
Even for stuff I buy to resell.
