When I receive payment, I leave my feedback. I only hope that the buyer will be as happy with their side of the transaction as I was when I received their payment.

My TOS doesn't mention feedback, and I've never mentioned in my e-mails, not to the people I've purchased from, nor the one who purchase from me. I leave reciprocal feedback (if it wasn't a miserable transaction) and I initiate feedback after I close out the records for completed transactions, usually once a month. I don't even check to see if the recipient EVER gives feedback. That's OK. I'm doing it for me. So long as I'm forgiven my errors by the ones who COULD neg or neutral me, I'm a happy camper. If I get half of my bidders to give me a +, I figure that's pretty darn good.

'tis better to give than receive.....
I give feedback never really caring if I receive it, that isn't what all this is about. Feedback is to inform others how this individual treated you, not "I got mine!!!", "gimmee, gimmmee, gimmee!" and "waaahhhhh!"

I leave feedback for all customers when payment is received.
I have been running a contest for close to a year. I have drawings for all sorts of prizes from cd lens cleaners, software to the grand prize of a color printer (I give out one every three months). Entries are given to those who visit my site and join my list, bid on my auctions, purchase an item and post feedback. However, in order to be in the drawing, all transactions must be complete and I remind my customers that a transaction is not complete until feedback has been left. Just before the drawing, I remind those who havent left feedback that they have no chance of winning until they do so. It does wake up most of the remaining ones. For the first time in my last drawing, the original winner was someone who did not leave feedback despite several reminders. I am still debating whether to send an email saying "You would have won an Epson color printer, but you decided not to leave feedback." Anyway, I will make sure that my other customers who didnt leave feedback know what happened.
Incidentally, I dont run this contest just for feedback. It has brought up bidding in general, more people have joined my list and visited my site. Unfortunately, ebay does not allow mention of a contest in an auction.

figmente:
"That is why I only leave feedback when it's left for me anymore" Now if everyone would adopt that attitude no one will get any feedback anymore and you can be happy with the great fairness of it.When sellers state that they only post feedback after receiving feedback I choose not to leave any.
No one said you had to agree with it, or even like it. The great thing about ebay - we are all allowed to have our own terms that fit OURSELVES. My terms work for me. That's all that matters.

I cannot guarantee this will work, but I can guarantee that it is more likely to work than not:
1. Sell good stuff. Good quality attracts good bidders.
2. Give your bidders knock-their-socks-off service.
Good stuff + good bidders + great service = greater feedback.
Chances are you will not receive the same number of feedback as you give, but you can get 60% or greater. If I remember correctly, mine is close to 70%
This has no gimmicks, costs very little, and delivers.

My return feedback rate is around 70% or so. I tend to think that if I take very good care of the buyer and his shipment, I will get more feedbacks. Go figure...
