It seems as though people that want to discuss adult auctions and the verification of them keep getting suspended. Why is that? How do you guys feel about this?

It doesn't seem fair. But then again, in Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, sex does not exist.

If that is all they wanted to do, they probably wouldn't have a problem. Unfortunately, there are many people who have children around and it's problematic enough with adults who ought to know better IMHO.
Actually some of these folks were disrupting threads and that's the main issue.

I can't quite figure out why we are taught that sex is such an evil thing.

my concern was people not being able to see the adult auctions when they want to. I am all for the verification screen but the can't see the stuff when searching the regualr search engine. Lot's of money lost.

I do not understand the adult section on ebay. Ebay's TOS states you must be 18 yoa to use the system. Sounds like a personal problem at home, if you do not want your kids to be on ebay, buy netnanny. Ed

First post 8:58 a.m.
It seems in the past two days, several people have joined auctionwatch and within minutes of joining, start a thread on adult auctions.
Is something happening I don't know about?

Oh gee, new people come in and want to discuss new subjects, and their motives are questioned.
I guess we ought to have a rule here that newbies to AW must start out complaining about PP, or asking questions their TOS.

capotasto-no because these very same questions were asked about the adult stuff yesterday, and these guys sound too familiar to the ones that were suspended yesterday for being rude, among other things.
london4-whats happening, I don't know. Well college here started this week, maybe they are playing with the computers in class?

I would like to post a very relative analogy, but then again, I'd be pushing it.
Guys (That would be Satan 2000 and junglejimmy), why don'tcha you read a few articles that AW has dealt with concerning Adult Auctions BEFORE you post here.
Hey, I'm for you guys, but you need to work on your presentation. If your gonna effectively convince people your cause is worth listening, then prepare before you post. And don't resort to snide remarks.
I'll get the links for you, and post them up if ya want's to see.

Why are you questioning me like this? You are all attacking me saying tha tI'm in computer class and stuff. I am not being rude or anything like that, I just wanted a simple discussion about adult auctions.

What did you want to discuss about them Satan? I'm sure if you did a search you'd find old posts about it.
Like I told whoever it was yesterday, (but I don't think he really wanted to hear anything) is: If people want to buy porn or adult material, they will go thru any verification process there is on ebay. I don't know, the guy said you needed a CC to get verified, I don't know. But if they REALLY want adult material, they will do that, look at all the porn stuff on the internet, they must be making money.
So keep the adult material in the adult section, where its supposed to be, thats it, thats simple.
If it doesn't show in regular search, I'm sure, that a person who wants this stuff will go directly to the adult section. Make sense?
And besides, I don't think that is what you wanted anyway. You would like to know why people were suspended yesterday for 'discussing porn' well, they were doing more than that, they were rude, obnoxious etc.

Well I wasn't going to get involved in this, but after this mornings ebay attack I can't stay quiet.
I have no problem with smut being restricted, but I find myself again the victim of ebay's idiotic standards. I research to death past auctions of the 1981 playboy featuring the John Lennon Interview (his last one), and I see them placed where I wanted Beatles memoribilia. Ok, so that's where I put it, scanned the cover of a fully clothed yet attractive female, and made sure there wasn't even the hint of a vulgar word anywhere in the description. Well after only a couple days it gets zapped into the adult catagory, very irritating when there have been so many allowed to run in general areas. So I just cancelled the bid ended the auction and moved it to Yahoo notifying my bidders where it would be. It's this coupled with the lack of a search that bothers some sellers, random punishment by ending or moving auctions. I honestly didn't consider this auction needed to be in an adult catagory, since I thought the main interest would be the Lennon interview. It's very frustrating to say the least!

Ebay will not allow a search in the adult section. This makes it hard on the erotic collector, as you must go look at thousands of hard core pages to find the fun cute items. The reproductions of vintage pin up art are forced there if printed in the last 10 years. All Playboys printed after 1979 have to go there. Current Olivia items and Sorayama items have been placed there, also MacPherson, and Elvgren items printed after 1979. This is why folks are upset, not the fact that your must be a verified user.

Once verified, and in the adult section, don't they have a search in that section?

There isn't a search in the adult section?? This is what I am talking about. There should be at least some adult search on ebay. A person should go through the verify screen then be able to see adult items.

Shelly...there is no search available anywhere in the adult listings, which is why I pulled the Lennon Playboy. otherwise I wouldn't have cared it was moved as long as people could find it.

I reported a while back there was software that could search eBay's adult section, and AW posted info about it.
Hey Moderator, I searched all of AW and can't find that Valentine's Day Article or that Adult Search Software Article. Could you post them up for me, please?
