I thought that bids were picking up, I had a pretty good month until THIS WEEK. How is everyone else doing ? Any thoughts on why its so slow ?

I did extremely well last week, but his week has been slow. It think the great weather has people out and about, not at the PC looking around, hopefully things will get back to normal soon! good luck to you

Things are on track this week. I list my auctions to close on Sunday nights, and the bids are right where they should be. Course, after the initial round of bidding, most items sit idle all week, and this week's no different.

This week was great for bidding, but now nobody is responding to me after they have won. Does that make this a bad week?

I'm having an absolutely TERRIBLE week. Last week was a knock-your-socks-off week for me and this week.... nothing! While I'm sorry to hear that it's not just me, I'm thrilled to hear that it's not just me. I had added some music to my auction pages and was afraid I was turning people off.

Maybe everybody is starting to Christmas shop in the retail stores and steering clear of e-bay?? I've been on and off the site all week and the site has been up, so it's not that. I guess I'll just re-list everything and hope next week is back on track.

Good luck!

Business really seems to be up and down, and I'm not sure if it's because my merchandise is less consistent or if it's something with the bidders. I'm almost afraid to list some of my higher ticket items, since bids seem to be so inconsistent. I've noticed also that, with the exception of bidders paying by PayPal, response and payment receipt times seem to be longer than normal.

This week has been horrible, no bids at all. In fact, I had a rash of sales the first week of September, and the rest of the month has been slow to absolutely stagnant. The bidder activity is just not there. Most items I sold this month have had only one bidder. I think the watch list is a contributing factor. People watch items and sometimes forget to bid before it expires. I've done that myself. Then, too, the economic outlook may be scaring people. Who Knows!

After having no bids on Yahoo I relisted them on eBay and they all sold. So it was a good week.

This has been the most unbelievable week since last Christmas. Where have these people been hiding? I'm doing a VERY happy dance, all the way to the bank.

Worst week ever here!! Not only no bids but no hits. Seriously considering giving it all up--can't keep giving stuff away and stay in business and can't afford to list everything with a reserve. Have a HUGE inventory but will not be listing much if things don't turn around fast. I know I can make $$$ if I have a RL auction and sell the whole inventory! I seriously believe that the ebay novelty has worn off and we will never again see the likes of the "good ol' days".

sharenv -- Music? Hate to be a wet blanket, but anything that's a possibility to slow down an ad when it's downloading is a neg in my book. Although I sell much more than buy on eBay, a slow ad sends me packing even faster than a zero FB rating.

Animated gifs, graphic backgrounds, large (>60 kb) pics (ughh!), and music all have the potential to lose a customer, especially if the internet's busy and slow already. The closer we get to the holiday selling frenzy, the more buyers will appreciate concise, easily downloaded and read ads. Will bet our bottom line on it!

JMHO!

Well, auction wise it's not been too bad for me, but I only have a few things listed.

On the other hand, my RL just chomps this week.

I noticed a couple of reply s about people being slow to pay. That is what I experienced with my ending auctions this week...they just don't answer emails. So maybe the weather has been too nice and people are not using computers.

This past week was my best yet in a year's time! YEA!!

But I wanted to mention something I recently saw on FOX news that I thought was interesting. (This was on local FOX out of Nashville, TN) They has a small business segment wherein this expert said that history had shown that months prior to presidential elections, consumer spending declines until just weeks before the election. At that time, spending seems to increase rapidly. His theory behind this was that people begin saving, not knowing what a new president will do to the economy. Yet, he offered no reason as to why it suddenly picks up just prior to the election. My question is: do they just get tired of saving? Really I think it has something to do with presidential elections being in November and Christmas being in December! LOL

I'm just glad to see that my bidders seem to be back in full force!

Kim

I noticed sales had slowed right at the same time the Olympics started. Maybe that had something to do with the slow down. We'll soon see, because my husband was watching the Olympic closing ceremonies last night.

It's been a great week. We are all healthy, my daughter hasn't dropped out of college (she threatens all the time), my computer hasn't crashed in a long time (knock on wood), I've lost some weight (can't be too thin or too rich), my husband is going fishing for a week and I'll have the house all to my self AND my auctions are doing all right.

Well to recap the week, sales down 50%, I am hoping that it was the Olympics (must blame something). Weather has been extremely nice so maybe people are out and about. I have some new things up and have gotten a few hits - no bids yet. Does anyone think that more people are sniping at last minute and not bidding right away ? Just curious -
