I had a profitable weekend -- spent about $80, sold about $140. The $80 represents bidding on about 10 different auctions. Just now, I got the following message (names changed to protect the clueless

Congratulations on your successful bid on heckidunno's auctions.
I DO HAVE EXTRAS OF MOST OF MY ITEMS THAT YOU
CAN HAVE AT YOUR WINNING BID. SHIPPING CHART IS Below
FOR # OF ITEMS. VERIFY AVAILABILITY WITH ME.

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, MAILING
ADDRESS, AND ITEM NAME WITH PAYMENT. - NOT DOING SO
WILL DELAY SHIPMENT!
Please send payment within 7 days.

Shipping: 1 item is 3.45 unless otherwise stated
in the auction, 2 items = 3.95, 3 items 4.75, 4 items
is 5.50, and 5 and above is 5.95. If the package is
extremely heavy I will contact you. Please consider
adding .85 ($50.00 value or less) or 1.25
(above $50.00 value) for insurance as I cannot replace
packages lost by the Post Office. If you choose to do
so, indicate this with payment.

Please send winning bid amount plus shipping to
address omitted
I have several auctions closing and cannot respond to
all emails quickly. Please only email me if necessary,
I ship within 3 to 4 days of receiving payment and you
can mark the "payment received notification" on the
Paypal screen.

Thank you for bidding!

Sincerely,
Ms. Heckidunno

back to me
I assure you, oh my brothers and sisters, that this is the entire notice.
The message went out to about 15 bidders. I wonder how many deadbeats she gets.

It's not that I don't know who she is. She's the only one of the eight sellers whose auctions I bid on this weekend who had yet to contact me. But still -- I'm annoyed.

I did fire back a terse reply, suggesting that she might want to let me know which item was under discussion. Am I being too testy here?

I once got an invoice similar to that one, from a new-to-eBay seller. I sent back a somewhat terse reply also: I told them something like, "No, this is not the way eBay works. I bought one item - you send me an invoice with the item number and name, the shipping and insurance for that item, your address, and at the end add other info you think necessary. I then send payment, and you send the item. I await your corrected invoice. Thank you."

The seller replied and apologized, sent me a simplified invoice. I purchased an item from them a couple of months later, and their invoicing method was greatly improved.

It is just the REVERSE of the common buyer who thinks you sold one item and are sitting
holding your breath waiting for his reply to the end of auction. Some people are like - WOW you did TWO? Sort of a revenge of the clueless.

The only thing really lacking is the item identifier and maybe the open-ended amount required. This is hardly a cake issue...more a half-baked cookie.
