the only thing I could think of is he doesn't want to be traced back to the item although I know there are other ways to see what he's bid on. It is a bit strange, but if he paid and all's well.... then it's his call.

Maybe the buyer didn't want someone (spouse? parent?) to know he/she made this purchase?

Maybe the buyer is now trying reverse psychology on his sellers in a desperate attempt to get feedback.

The item could have been purchased as a gift---I have already told my husband not to click the item numbers in my feedback because I have started Xmas shopping. (He does not know how to do a bidder search, so I am safe there.)

My guess is that the buyer used another person's acount to make the purchase (parent, spouse, etc) without their knowledge & doesn't want them alerted by the FB.

I had a bidder a couple of months ago that requested that I not leave feedback.

Her reason was that she had bid with her selling account, and that she wanted to build her feedback based exclusively on selling.

It sure felt funny skipping over her when it came time to leave feedback, but I did as she requested!

Geesh--thought I was the only one that this had happened to. It was about a year ago--high ticket item--paid in a timely fashion--and they requested no feedback. Went along with it--but had me puzzled.
Like some of the theories posted.
If I get payment--I honor anyone's feedback request.

I *almost* requested a seller not leave me feedback because the item I bought (a 2 live Crew "Nasty as they want to be" CD) just doesn't jive with the image I am trying to sell (I sell toys).

The CD was for a friend.

I had the same request a few months ago - but it was for an item I had purchased. There was a photocopied note in the box that said "Please do not leave feedback for me, as I already have more than enough" (his feedback was over 200 I think) and the "do not" part was circled with a very wide-tip marker to emphasize it. I was really puzzled, his feedback was nearly perfect and I was very happy with the item & would have liked to have left feedback. Very strange indeed...

Maybe it has something to do with an attitude we have seen presented here from time to time...ie: "I won't buy from high feedback sellers because thye are a big business or power seller and give lousy customer service. I want to deal with the little mom and pop seller"

Maybe your buyer also sells and wants to keep his feedback down so people won't boycott his auctions.

I once had a customer do that. He left me feedback but asked tha I do not leave him fb. He said it was a business account. I am not sure what difference it made to hime but. I was happy.
