From the announcement board:

We are happy to announce that we will soon unveil two new pages on eBay Motors. The New and Improved Home Page that we previewed last month, and a new Everything Else page and category that will take the place of the Automobilia page and category that was rolled back to eBay.com.

The new home page has been improved to include more text links, and to make the entire page easier for members to read and use. Similarly, the Everything Else page has been created to simplify the user experience with a straight forward, single-category page that will allow members to buy and sell general automotive items in a consolidated, browsable, flea market type setting.

These changes, and others soon to come, are part of eBay Motors’ ongoing effort to become the premier automotive resource on the web. Please take the time to review these improvements, and to share your opinion with us by writing to [email protected]

Thank you for your time and support,

Sincerely,
eBay

If this means they are moving the Transportation:Automobilia category back to eBay Motors, this is not a good thing. They originally moved this category over to Motors in April, but returned it to the core eBay site after a firestorm of protest. Most of the stuff in this category has no business on a used car lot; also, many of the auction management tools don't support eBay Motors listing.

Anybody know more about this change? Is there a preview page for "Everything Else" that I've not seen?

Wish I could say I feel sorry about it. I don't... Motors screwed me in the beginning, that's why I moved to Yahoo. Yahoo seems to listen. I sell motorcycles and motorcycle parts. I've built my website http://www.rt67cycle.com and Yahoo auction site.
Unfortunately No one seemed to give a sh*t about the people moaning about eBay motors. Everyone went on with there particular categories. Soon the eBay motors format will be the same for all categories. Slow, unfriendly and no customer support. I'll buy a couple things on ebaay but I won't list.
I'm enjoying the way they a antagonizing more and more of there customers. They forgot "the customer is always right."

Oh darn! I wish they would leave it on eBay! I have a bunch of stuff I wanted to sell for Christmas and my auction posting software (ePoster) doesn't support eBay Motors and I'll be darned if I'm going to sit there and manually type up all this stuff I want to sell. Maybe I'll have to give it a try over on Yahoo, except their categories just don't seem to be suitable.

A group of in asked for changes in the motorcycle and motorcycle parts categories and they've made them. They are very receptive. That's Yahoo I'm talking about. You can't get too much done with ebay motors. It's there way or the hi-way.

I like the idea behind ebay motors. It's not very smooth yet, but my husband has finally joined in with me selling items because it's there...I think we both hope it will turn out to be a great car parts place to sell. It's a little harder to list things there right now (just not as easy as other categories) but we've got some great sales. I think a lot of the shoppers are male (JMHO) and they don't seem to like shopping anywhere unless it feels like a detached garage...like ebay motors.

traveling memorabilia items may belong there later, when it's finished and set up better...but not now, people don't respond well to change unless it's easier and quicker than before. We see a lot of antique stores that sell vintage cars in one area and have a building with vintage travel memorabilia and it works out well. They seem to work well together if done right.

Follow-up:

eBay says that they aren't moving the Automobilia category. I guess the announcement was just confusing- I thought when they said: "a new Everything Else page and category that will take the place of the Automobilia page and category that was rolled back to eBay.com." that it meant they were moving Automobilia to Motors.

Here's the reply from eBay:

***
Thank you for you concerns about the improvements made to the eBay
Motors site. I will do my best to address them all.

First, the Automobilia category will remain on the core eBay site, but
we provide a link from eBay Motors for user to access this category. If
you go to the Everything Else page, you will see how "Automobilia" is
listed under the "On eBay.com" heading.

http://pages.ebay.com/ebaymotors/browse/Everything.html

You may also reach this Everything Else listing page from the eBay
Motors Home Page.

http://www.ebaymotors.com/

If you browse eBay Motors today, you will notice that these changes with
the Home Page and Everything Else have already been made. As for any
other improvements to the site, there is not a set schedule at this
time.

I hope this information has helped, and I wish you all the best on eBay.

Regards,
