I'm trying to find out the English translation for this German phrase.
'Fur Baden's Ehre'
The U in fur has two dots over it. This is printed on a German beer mug I want to sell.
I used an online translator and it came up with 'Fur Bathe Honor.' That doesn't make any sense. Can anyone help?

Fur with the dots is for, and there's a town called baden baden-big spa town if I remember right.

Ok, thanks, that makes more sense - For Baden's Honor, referring to the town.

For <bathing it> honor is what I got using the umlaut over the U with a translator, but it would have to be "For Baden's honor" assuming that Baden is a town.

Nevermind------you figured it out [ edited by debbielennon on Oct 5, 2000 10:19 AM ]

Altavista has a simple translation program.

http://babel.altavista.com/translate.dyn

It translates French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese to English.
