To many sellers? Not enough buyers? People will come and go, the ones that stick around are the ones that do ebay right. I have been on Ebay since the beginning and love it. Yes, I have had problems with Dead Beat bidders, I have even had people demand refunds but want to keep the item and 1 person actually returned something that I did'nt sell him (hoping that I would not notice), but overall, Ebay works. I sell tons of stuff, when I list an item, I don't care what it is worth, just what I have in it, I start with a low bid, enough to make a profit and hope it sells for more, I never have a reserve, don't over charge for shipping, give 100% refund no questions asked and if the return is my fault, I refund all shipping costs. This is how to get repeat customers. This is how to make ebay work for you. Ebay will always have bad sellers and dead beat buyers, if you get nailed, learn from it and move on. Eventually, we all get what we deserve, so don't worry about the small stuff. Sell, Bid and Be Happy. I am booktrader and happy to be part of Ebay.

Couldn't agree more, thanks for the positive attitude! Like the saying goes, Things don't just happen, you have to make them happen.

booktrader - thank you! It is really refreshing to see someone with the "right" attitude - after reading through this board it was starting to get a little angst and the I read your post and it is nice to know that someone looks at things the same way I do!

Good post booktrader! Ebay is like any other business - if you are grumpy and mean to your bricks and mortor customers, they will not come back and same with ebay customers. I've only been selling for a year and have a nice bunch of buyers, many who are repeat buyers. I've only yelled at one buyer since I've been doing this and I emailed her later and apologized (caught me on a really bad day).
there's always going to be an impossible customer waiting to find someone to fight with. They can't become what you base your whole business experience on.
After 2 years, I'm seeing old customers coming back, and happy to see that I'm selling an item they want.
I'm getting emails from customers that say things like:
"oh, thank you for contacting me so soon" - what, do sellers wait 3 days to contact a high bidder...are they crazy?
"gee, thanks for letting me know you rec'vd my payment" - you mean sellers leave their buyers in limbo?
or "you're going to ship tomorrow? oh, thank you" - well what would you expect me to do?, wait until I feel like going over to the post office to ship what you've already paid me for?
yeah, it's not easy to set high standards for your business practices...but customers like it. And it usually makes you more successful.
