I wondered if other people were experiencing NPBs too. I think it's the worse it's been in the 2 years I've been selling. It's still below 5% of my buyers. But it's starting to be a headache.

What I don't like is that it wastes time, money and effort. Ebay needs to clean it's house...! And, no you're not alone, just part of the silent majority.

I've got the same problem. I have one person who signed up on September 30th and has bid on 277 puzzles. I doubt he will honor any of his bids. New bidders should not be allowed to bid on everything in sight until they have established some feedback. I've had lots of 0 feedback bidders lately and many of them have been nothing but problems for me. The time I should spend listing, I now spend chasing these individuals or trying to explain to them that they need to contact sellers, etc. etc.

i never had any NPBs in the two+ years i've been on ebay. i'm struggling with three right now. i know three's not a huge number, though. i am puzzled--one of my NPBs has over 500 fb, all pos. i've contacted them three separate times with no response. why would someone risk great fb like that over a cheap widget?

uh huh. that's what i thought!

Hi...same here. We had 27 NPB alerts and 3 final value fee requests this week. The most disturbing thing is that about 75 % of these people have a good feedback history.
The top of the list today is a person with a feedback rating of 366..with no indications of any problems.
Ebay has zero (0) incentive to do anything about the problem. They still get their listing fee's...
If, ebay had to refund the listing fee's by the tens of thousands every week...they would fix the problem in five minutes or less.

Ebay is not much of a community leader..

These same 27 people..that received their alerts today...will continue on and on...and on average about 37% will pay...
Brad...

Could it be that since Yahoo! now requires users to file a Credit Card for Verification, that has chased the Deadbeats and Troublemakers off of Yahoo! and onto eBay to cause trouble?

I think that people who bid and have feedback less than say 100 should be required to have a valid charge card on file with eBay so that they would be liable for insertion and FVF fees if the seller had to collect fees because they didn't settle up. This would begin to cut the baloney out. And eBay should still NARU if they collect four fees.

Looks like I'll have to file one Mon. My nonpaying Bidder got 1st neg today for nonpayment, and is still bidding!

I had to file one last week and 2 the week before. The 2 the week before paid, and this last one just got a neg from me. This last one had perfect feedback too. I blemished their record and I feel terrible about it, but business is business and this auction ended on Sept. 5th. A month is quite enough time. All other auctions from that time period are in and paid for and filed away. The only reason I neg is for non payment. Would have to be pretty drastic for me to neg otherwise....like sending me something in a bug filled pizza box or somethin!

Posted 5 NPBs and 3 FVF this week.

I attribute to the large number of bidders with negligible feedback ratings. Figured alot of them accumulated negs and re-registered.

I've had a few on E-Bay the last couple of weeks, but the one that kills me is I had 7 winning auctions on CCBid and haven't received payment on anything. They have the highest deadbeat rate anywhere, gives a bad name to so called Christians.

All the boards seemed to be filled with massive accounts of NON-Paying Bidders.

I would hope that all those sellers who are having to deal with the problems encountered with NPBs will attempt to maintain a staunchly dispassionate, impersonal view towards same.

They cost time, money and energy, and I am certain that eBay must be very concerned, as the NPBs are tampering with the very integrity of eBay auctions.

I suspect that there is MUCH MORE to the NPB problem than meets the eye. In other words, NO I do NOT believe that newbies - supposedly representative of the newly online general public suddenly become irresponsible dummies, nor do I believe that bored teens are at the origin of these reports, and to pretend that they are the work of Internet pranksters is waY toooo wilde, folks, lol.

I foresee a time when the NPB will no longer be a problem; meantime, stay dispassionate and unemotional - as I suspect that they INTEND to demoralize all eBay sellers. I won't give them the satisfaction of attaining their goals through me, thank you. It's wise to keep careful and detailed records of any questionable transaction - even their bidding histories, and of course all headers of all emails.

This too shall pass, but eBay will continue.

Last week, 37 NPB and 10 deadbeats for a two-week period. It's worse than ever, about one in ten don't pay. I was wondering if I was the only one.

we file NPBR's and FVF'S every week to week and a half, this week one and a half weeks.

23 FVF
37 NPB

Some of the people i filed FVF's on were 30 days old and some had feedback over 300. Maybe everyone is just getting tired of the whole thing and is ready to move on. All i can say is it's a big pain in the butt and the hip pocket.

The big question is weather or not to Neg the deadbeats.

Well, the totals are in: 23 deadbeats totalling over $500 in a two-week period.

(edited to add)

Excuse me, that's a ONE week period.

Gosh, I can't even imagine that number of npbs. Luckily I've had no more than 10 my entire eBay time, but I'm small potatoes.

As for negs, I would leave a neg. I always wait several days after the FVF credit has been filed. Sometimes that's the only way to get the deadbeat's attention. I've found in their mind, they don't care about the FVF, but they do care about the neg because everyone can see it.

I've even had people pay after the FVF credit and neg!

I have had only 5 NPB in the 3 years I have sold on ebay. Please post the type of items you are selling so I never list them. Thanks Ed

Today I finally got serious about deadbeat bidders and filed 10 alerts with Ebay regarding the issue. I've been a seller for about 2 years now and things have been running smoothly until this past month. What rankles me is that as I was going through my auctions, 2 of the bidders are no longer registered users, but I still have to wait 10 days until I can get the final value fee credited to my account. Perhaps not the biggest deal in the world, but it's still enough to rankle me if I let it!

gateyroo: please go over the eBay Q&A User Board, and ask their assistance. I have read your question asked there many times, and it seems to me -- but I am NOT completely totally sure, that you CAN FILE THE NPB, right away, by stating "both parties cancelled" OR some such, but I do not recollect the exact details. I'm sure that someone at the Q&A does know.

don't file that both parties canceled the transaction unless you can't make it within the 60 days limit.

i.e.. it's 55 days sence the close of the auction and you don't want to get cheated by ebay for the closing cost fee. if you do have plenty of time file the NPR and then the final credit.

Why? if both parties cancel the transaction it doesn't count as a mark toward the 4 failure to complete the auction suspension. plain and simple, don't bid if you don't intend to pay.

The only problem with leaving negs for multiple wins that you had to file a NPB form on...say for example ONE person bid on 10 things...and you neg'd that person for each item, that person then can return the favor with retalitory negs...10 of 'em. I have filed 12 NPB forms and 4 FVF forms this past week. Some of those are from one or two bidders. I dont want to make my feedback look bad with those dam red marks against me because THEY refused to pay. So, I just file and move on. I dont neg anymore because of the retalitory aspect.

Its called between a rock and hard place, or, better yet...up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle.

once again, it's the case of the "FEEDBACK MONSTER" .... the feedback has got to be changed...it is too over-run with control freaks. if you are leaving neg feedback for someone that didnt pay...then THEY should NOT be allowed to leave feedback for you...plain and simple. if only i lived in a perfect world.....

I NPBed somone for 4 auctions, then went to neg him. I couldn't leave him negs because my NPBs got him NARUed. That was frustrating. So be sure you give the negs before you file the NPB or you may not get the chance.

Hey that is a good point. Last month I had 17 deadbeats on ebay, and everyone was an AOL account without feedback. I now cancel all 0 feedback bidders. I am now selling 75% on Yahoo now. Less deadbeats, no fees, people no longer need to wait 7 days to win a bid, it auto relists, I can eliminate 0 feedback bidders, and set the end time. Seems like Yahoo wants to help sellers, but ebay tries their hardest to hurt them. So I agree with you on the movement of the deadbeats. The kids need something to do with their spare time. They probally brag to friends about all the trouble they cause for sellers on eBay.
