I have been using the Gallery for about three weeks. Seems to be an improvement in prices on some items but not on others. On the 1,700 golf shirts for sale only about 150 have Gallery pictures. Now this can be and advantage or not. Would love to hear your experiences with this.

When I'm looking to buy something that has hundreds or thousands of the same type of item in the category, I go right for the Gallery. For that reason, as a Seller, I also put my merchandise in the Gallery. For 25 cents I think it's worth it.

Not enough sellers use it so I think it is a waste of money. I would wildly prefer to shop via thumbnails like you can on Yahoo, but if you do this on ebay you will see less than 10% (at best) of what is available which is not acceptable. I want to shop the full selection, and have not clicked gallery since week 1 they rolled it out.

The best 25 cents worth ebay offers! I use it for everything over $20 and sometimes over $10 and have started using it for researching my items before listing. So much quicker than going in and out of every listing! My hits are definitely up on gallery items.

...used in conjunction with a personal gallery, it is the best way to spend $0.25 that I know...I use it on all my items.

I also use it on all of my auctions, no matter what the starting price is. Mainly because I use a personal gallery in my auctions. It gives the bidder a quick way to scan all of our current auctions without having to go in and out of each auction.

cdnbooks...Ditto to that. Both as Buyer and Seller. I find the Personal Gallery to be an invaluable tool...

OK what and where do I find this personal gallery.I have no idea what that is.

I know what the gallery is.
I use the gallery every time. I did a test when I first started a year ago with similar items. You get between 2-5 times more hits when you use the gallery with the .25 picture.
What I don't understand is those people that they pay 19.95 to feature in the catagory but don't pay that .25 for the gallery.
I sell paintings so the visual is very improant.

As a buyer, I like seeing that little thumbnail next to an item stating it has picture. That way my time is not wasted on some item that "says" picture but is actually some logo or other crap, but no picture.

tegan... This is not something you will not find out how to do on E-bay...A user posted about it last year, and was kind enough to teach us how to create it.

You can see some by clicking on hinz Ebay about me signature line on this post, or mine.

If you want, you can Email me and I can help you next week.(Email is on My About Me page)

Basically, you need to choose a "code" word that is SPECIFIC to YOU, something no one else will use. You would enter this "key" word within your listing...For example, My ID is Rifkah...there is no other Rifkah on Ebay...So, at the start of my listing, I type "Welcome to Rifkah auctions"...then my listing. Then at the end of the listing, I make a clickable link, using the rifkah name in it...Here is the HTML for it:

(<p><center> these tags are optional, and are used only if you want a new paragraph and if you want your link centered, as I do. Do not use those tags if you want to insert your link WITHIN your listing. I use mine AFTER the listing.)

<a href=http://search-desc.ebay.com/cgi-bin/texis/ebaydesc/results.html?query="rifkah+auctions"&dest=&cobrandpartner=x&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&SortOrder=[a]&srchdesc=y&category0=&category1=&category2=&category3=&textonly=n&tc=&ht=1&st=1&allebay=1&ebayregioncode=&ebaytag1=ebayreg&ebaytag1code=0&ebaycurr=&minPrice=&maxPrice=> Picture Gallery</a>

At the very end of that paragraph, where it says Picture Gallery, between brackets, you can change that to anything you want, such as View My Picture Gallery, or Click here to view my Picture Gallery...

Of course, on the first line, where it says query=", you would insert the "code" word you want...In this case, you would remove the "rifkah" and replace it with YOUR Code+auction..

When the Search Engine looks for all of your Gallery Pics, it will search for your CODE word....and find your Gallery Pics...

As a buyer, I shop almost exclusively with the gallery now. It's great to be able to go to your favorite category (wallpockets is one of mine) and see all the pictures at once.

Edited to add: It would be wonderful if eBay would make the gallery more accessible to buyers. As it is now, I have to go the Site Map Page, click on the Gallery link (hidden amongst hundreds of other links) then take it from there as to what category I want to shop in. Since sellers pay extra for this feature I would think it should be easier for buyers to use and find. (I know you can click the link on the search page to show the gallery listings, but its hard to get there for the categories. A gallery link on the top of the page would certainly be handy.)

I never use it as a buyer.
I used it as a seller briefly.

Long URLs can kill a thread.
