Hey everyone...I thought I would stop by and introduce myself since I read just about everything in this forum! I gather that Amazon.com sucks right now and probably will for a while. I am going to steer clear of that site. I am new to this and have started with ebay and with selling leather, knives, lamps...etc...I was hoping I could get some pointers on how to sell at the auctions. Assuming most everyone here is somewhat experienced at this! I appreciate ANY suggestions, past experiences, whatever will educate me in the ways of the auction. haha...thanks everyone.

Either sell what you love, or learn to love the art of selling itself. Enthusiasm is contagious.
Be accurate in your descriptions, particularly about flaws. Obfuscation will come back to bite you in the ass.
Spell check your listings, and compose your titles as carefully as if they were newspaper headlines.
Spend the time to take good pix, and crop and resize them well.
Eschew gimmicks - anigifs and music.
Check past auctions of your items to see in which category they sell best.
Be straight with your customers no matter what.
Read, understand, and follow ebay rules.
Keep good records.
Decide how you're going to handle problems (deadbeats, bidder's remorse) BEFORE you run into them.

Lately I would say that the biggest bugaboo for many has been SHIPPING. Be up front about your shipping----state whether it's Priority, first class, insured, whether there is handling included, etc. People are very wary right now and shipping omissions or obscurities will send them right on to another auction.
(Hey HCQ, you're up early too....but I'm in California! LOL!)

Give great service and sell good stuff. Works wonders as too many sellers still don't recognize these basics!
