I have finally got an Indonesian buyer wanting to use PayPal to pay for a new Sony camcorder I sold just this morning #455869454. He wants me to "forward it to a friend over there," to a shipping address in Indonesia. He wants to pay UPS to Indonesia on top of the $330 he paid! It seems that shaky people are all over cameras and electronics! I have previously been warned and cancelled these peoples' bids. Is there any way to block this guy from paying to my address? I am extremely concerned as I sure do not want to end up with a frozen account! Does that guy from PayPal have any input? I knew something was fishy when they bid more for a (clearly described) defect camcorder than they generally go for in perfect new shape. Thanks, Glen Ward/ skyscout

The only way you can do this without risking getting yourself in hot water is to ship to a US address. If the buyer can't provide that, then inform him that he must either pay by another method or allow you to cancel the transaction.

If he wants to pay by credit card direct him to BidPay. They will send you a Western Union money order and you won't have to worry about charge backs. Failing that, unless he sends you cash or an International money order, I would tell him to take a hike.

1. Item is a high value electronic item, easily resold for cash;
2. Buyer wants you to send it "to a friend;"
3. Friend lives in one of the countries with a high incidence of CC fraud;
4. Buyer doesn't balk at a more expensive shipping option.
All of these are warning signs. Taken togetner, there is such a high liklihood of fraud, that I wouldn't even consider such a deal.
Cancel the bid, if the auction is still running. If the auction is closed, tell the bidder to pay via BidPay, and don't ship until you have the Western Union money order, and even then, only after you've cashed it for cash money. (Although I doubt BidPay will agree to take his business, because they do some sort of CC/address verification).

If you tell him that you accept BidPay only when shipping internationally, you will never hear from him again (which I assume is what you want). He will not use BidPay as they do a pretty thorough job of preventing frauds of this nature.
