I know that this has been talked about before, but this is the first time it has happened to me. I have had one ebay ID for over 3 years and have started a new Ebay Id recently for selling totally different items.

Yesterday I recieved an email from an international bidder that was "unpleased" with his purchase. The lot he purchased has 4 pieces and he's telling me that one piece wasn't included. I know that I put the piece in the box and I have searched and searched my house looking for it.

Anyway he is saying that one of the pieces has been repainted and not very well. I don't have any knowledge of this but I do know that another piece had been repainted and I had mentioned that.I was told that the piece looked to have the original paint and I put that in the description.

This bidder now wants a refund of the lot and shipping both ways. I have no problem doing this but he wants me to refund the money first. I want the package in my hand in order to inspect the merchandise before I give I give a refund. Is this asking to much? The bidder also wants $5.00 more back than the piece went for.

Sorry this is so long winded. I needed to get it all out though.

Any help is appreciated.

I know of no store, online or otherwise, that would refund any money without having the items back first. Asking for more is way out of line as well.

Buyer should send the items back to you first, otherwise you could be out of the money and out of the itme. The return item must be in the same condition as it was sent.

Okay, I know I'm sometimes overly distrusting, but is it possible that the buyer only wanted the "missing" item, and it wasn't actually missing? Now he has removed it from the lot and plans to get it for free and make a few dollars. I don't think I'd trust this one...

Here is what I do it save a lot of head ache and some exspence as well.

have the buyer send you a picture of all he received also if they still have it in the picture should be the package or label you sent the items in.

once you get this and they have proved one item isnt right or missing tell them no return needed just send a refund minus the shipping since the package did get to them no need to refund postage at all.

after all if the goods have been damages or missing why would you really want it back there trash can is as good as yours right.

some will disagree with this but its best to have a disatisfide costumer feeling some better before things turn nasty and as this is International you will save tons on the double shipping refund alone.

edited to add that many times when I ask a buyer who complains for a picture of what they are not happy with they will tell me its not that bad and they werent requesting refund just wondering about what ever.

Thanks for responding everyone!

danilynn71-

I was thinking the same thing you were but didn't want to say it!

dman3-

Its just not that one piece is missing...he's saying that another piece have been repainted when I was sure that the paint was original.

I think I'm just going to email him and have him send everything back....I know that I can resale the items, even without the missing piece. He told me that I could pay xxx amount of money to have him return it or I could pay him xx.xx which is 5.00 over the winning bid and he could keep the lot.

Thanks for the advice!

Leslie
