Okay, I screwed up pretty bad this time. I was selling some old sweaters out of my closet to clear some space out/make a quick buck/get a chance to fiddle with my new digital camera. You know the routine. Listed a bunch of stuff. Wondered why some things were getting bids and others didn't. The auctions ended tonight with pretty good results.

When I was sending out my EOA notices I was looking at the actual auction page for the email addresses (since AW is kinda screwy tonight). I got to one that was listed in Clothing:MEN:BIG&TALL. OH, NO! I am not big. Nor am I tall or a man. The proper category should have been clothing:women:small&short.

Then I notice that the picture is wrong. It's the same picture that I have for another auction matched up to the wrong title and description. OH, NO, NO!

Then I go to the other auction, hoping that it was a double mix up so that I could just sell whatever was in the picture. It's the same picture! OH, NO, NO, NO!

So I email the bidder on the messed up auction and apologized profusely. I can't even understand why s/he bid on this since it's in the wrong category with OBVIOUSLY mismatched description v. picture. I offered the correct sweater, which is actually worth more than the mismatched one.

Eesh. I'm gonna get sent through the meat grinder with the feedback, aren't I?

Nah, a reasonable person understands that mistakes happen. Offer the option of sending the correct item or calling the deal off, whatever the buyer prefers.

Don't sweat it, these things can happen.

Not with a nice email!
How can you neg with a nice email?
(laughs deleriously)
If they aren't out anything more than time, hey maybe they'll be nice and give you a poz for being so nice!
good luck

I wouldn't neg. In fact, my wife and I would find this wonderfully amusing. No offense intended… Some people don’t have a sense of humor and jump on the trying to rip me off bandwagon a bit too fast now days.

Be optimistic.
Your buyer may be a cross dresser!

Thanks, y'all. I was afraid I was going to have to learn how to knit an exact replica of this sweater.

I wouldn't, but some people sure would! If your feedback is very high, just don't worry about it. There are some people who want to think they are dealing with a big catalog place, not individuals. I have had more trouble with big mail order places than I've had with Ebay sellers, though!

I just heard from the high bidder and THANK GOODNESS she was clever enough to figure out my mistake. Now she's getting a great deal on this not so men's, not so big, and not very tall-at-all sweater. Maybe I won't go running around claiming that everyone in the world is IQ challenged anymore.
