I haven't heard anything; why you want a check mailed is kinda dumb...PayPal is supposed to be electronic payment. I love not having to run to the bank with money.

Another way for PayPal to strongarm users into registering (and then "verifying" ) a bank account, thereby giving them access to the account. Makes it easier to confiscate your funds whenever they take a notion.

Also, withdrawing your money was supposed to be Freeeee! Next you will be paying to withdraw electronically, does anybody doubt it?

Nobody has yet verified if this check thing is true.

They do hit you for withdrawing if you auto sweep. As I verify every payment, I do it myself.

From the PayPal website:

Postage and Handling Fee for Check Withdrawals

Entry Date: October 9, 2000
Effective Date: October 16, 2000

In order to encourage our customers to withdraw funds by electronic transfer rather than by check, as of Monday, October 16, there will be a $1.50 postage and handling fee on check withdrawals. There is no fee for electronic transfer, which usually requires only 3-4 days to complete (compared to 1-2 weeks for check withdrawals).

It's on the "Policy Changes" page at Paypal.

You'd think PayPal would have noticed all the complaints about "handling" fees on this board.

The $1.50 charge to cut a check IS true. I read it myself last night in the paypal terms of use. I ran across that tidbit as I was trying to close an account.

Go into paypal and look through their web page, you'll find it in black and white.

A bit steep for one's own money delivered by snail. Use electronic payments.

Well, the whole Fee thing is getting out of hand with all banks. I just came home from our bank, after taking my son there to open a checking account. As the teller was going over the details, and she got to the part about ATM fees. Right now we can use our Debit card to pay for purchases in most local stores. Generally, you swipe your card, then enter your PIN to complete the transaction.

Starting November 1, there will be a .50 cent charge if you use the Debit card with your PIN. If you have them ring it like a Charge Card, there is no fee. The Debit card pulls the amount immediately, the Credit use means there is a delay in how quickly the money is taken out of your account.

We can use our Debit card for free as long as we use it at our bank, but using other banks ATM machines we pay a $2 per transaction fee. There is a $1 per month charge just to have the Debit card, but that is waived if you use the card for 3 or more purchases per month. I wonder if the Credit purchases will count toward that waiver?

I guess I'll go back to writing checks again, since I don't pay a "per check" fee.

I have also heard that they have installed pay toilets.

Last time I checked, however, you use pay toilets to make a deposit rather than a withdrawal.

OK, so that's why I'm reading these boards. I knew I logged on for a reason amid my pre-inlaw visit preparatory cleaning. Thanks for the laugh, HCQ.

My account has been restriced(cannot send, withdraw or request money)since 9/22 for some unknown reason, My son deraha was restricted the same day.
I guess he has been complainning too much, Today Pal Pal locked (cannot access his account)his account (over $1000)
He can't even see how much they screwed him out of!
Something else--If someone pays me with Pal Pal, Am I obligated to ship? Or can I wait until the funds clear to my bank? I now wait 7-10 business days for a personal check to clear, How long should I wait for Pay Pal to clear my money to my bank?
