Ran across a supposedly German eBay-er whose e-mail address is @AOL. Knowing nothing about AOL, I need to ask, does this make sense?

Yes, because AOL is available in Europe and parts of Asia.

edit: I spoke too hasty. The damn thing is available in South America, Africa and Australia as well.

Yep, have AOL in Germany. Have Prodigy, too.
