Hello,

What would be the best (and cheapest) type of box or packaging to ship a single album/LP? I'm stuck on this one

Thanks for your help!!

I've seen sellers here recommend using pizza boxes to ship LP's. Perhaps a local pizza shop would sell or give you one?

I would recommend NOT using a "used" pizza box. And if you do, don't admit to it here. (kidding)

Here is how I ship Lps the thiner type boxes that clothes come in from stores like macys or the type you use for christmas gifts .

rip all four sides open so its not a box no more wrap two sides around your lps use small peice of card board to fillin the small gap tape the two side you folded.

The two open end will have flaps fold these flaps inside the package on both ends this seal the lps in well tape this whole thing over very well this make a neat looking package then wrap the whole in brown shipping paper this is good for 33s never a problem.

for 78 you must wrap each record in tisue paper or some other soft paper individually then make the same card board box around it like above but you must then slip 78s into a second box big enough so it can be padded on all side no part of the frist box can touch the out side box or the records will not suvive being dropped.

for 45s get a large yellow mailer two heavy peices of card board for stiffiners cut the size of the envelope sandwich the 45s between the two peice of card board tape all side slid it all in your padded mailer and ship.

so far shipping this way I have never had no damage and because the box size is smaller then pizza boxes the shipping is a bit lower.

Tip I use foam rubber on the inside of the second box for 78s these are hard to ship with out damage and never never have the PO stamp fragile on your packages to then this mean crash stomp amd bend

And if you do use a used pizza box whack it on the floor a couple times to get all the ants and little pepperoni crumbs out!!

I ship lots of LP's out. I've had no problems just using a rectangular Priority box that was flat. I place the lp in a walmart bag (have to, the glue once stuck to an album). I then write on the flat box... DO NOT BEND. RECORD. I remember when we used to buy records .. ( man was that a long time ago *L*) they were shipped pretty similar.

I have been shipping some LPs lately and found that the 12 1/2 x 15 x 3 inch priority mail box works out great. Single LP fits in kind of at an angle, fill the rest of the box with shreaded paper. I try to put some in the bottom before I put the record in, so that it doesn't sit right on the cardboard.

I shipped 16 to a guy awhile ago in the same box. He said that it worked out great. Found you can get two single LPs in box w/paper for the $3.20 rate.

Not micheneraddict on ebay.

I use the large Rec Priority boxes, but with a slight variation.
after the album is placed in the box, the two SMALL flaps can the be folded until they actually HOLD the album in place ( YEP- they are a perfect size ) I have shipped hundreds of albums like this. give it a try

Hi All,

THANKS so much for the great ideas! I don't know why I didn't come to the experts first before going to Mailboxes etc.

....Maybe the ants will add to the vintage sound!

The flat priority boxes works great for LPs they really do but I have been selling nearly nothing but records for the last 5 months and I have found many many buyer dont want to pay priority rates for this they like the 1.25 to $1.50 shipping rate per lps.

I now offer shipping both ways and I find most perfer to have then shipped at the lower rate and wait out the delivery time.

here is the difference 12 78s in sleeve with packageing can ship prority with insurance is $14.85 . 24 78s priority cost $36.

12 78s shipped at lower rate in sleeves with good packageing $6.45 . 24 78s cost $10.50

many times you will find many types of records selling for .75 each to send one and charge $3.20 or $4.05 with insurance really can cut down on your bids.

I sell my records in lot of 4, 6 8 and 12 set my price between .75 and $1.10 each depending on what and who it is by and set my shipping at $2.25 for 2 $4.50 for 5 and so on for the lps with the packageing method I describe in my post above and seems to work out good for me bidding is up offering priority as second option in the EOA and I Recommend it to only buyer who need there Items delivered in two or three days.
