Some of my auctions ended yesterday and I sent EOA notices.
I received replies from all but one last night. The last reply came in today and this is what it said (the auction was for a Rowenta iron, nothing unusual)

Good Morning:
I am curious to know why there is a sercurity hazard warning attached to your message?  This has me somewhat concerned!  Please advise why this is!  I feel it is something that should be reported to eBay.  I will wait to first hear from you.  Thank you.
Regards.
XXXXXXXXXX

My feedback is perfect, (350) I have one neutral & that's because the person leaving it hit the wrong button.
My EOA letter gives the auction #, the amount due, my name & address, a request for theirs & a thank you for bidding. Nothing unusual there either.

Anyone have an idea what this "security hazard warning"
could mean.
I emailed the buyer & asked her to send me a copy, will post it when I receive it.

Maybe she has your auction confused with someone else's.

My first guess is a virus program at the buyers end might have flagged your email with a warning. Did you send an attachment by any chance?. Key word in my statment is 'guess'.

Sounds like something attached to the email you sent or a setting on the buyers email program.

Does your email program automatically try to attach some kind of "index card" file (with your name, company, email, telephone etc.)? Netscape mail often does this. If not, any other attachments to the email?

If it does or you sent the buyer attachements could be the buyer's email program is set to "warn" when receiving attachments.

Could also be you're email program is set to send messages as html and the buyer's email is set to warn when receiving html email (some hacks have been send via html email).

Tell the buyer you've never heard of that happening before and you're just as concerned. Ask them to forward back the email to you so you can see what it says and review the header info.

Do a search on your system for KAK. If you do have this email worm, you won't know it until you look for it, or your system fails to boot up the next time the 11th of the month comes up. If you find that KAK file, read this thread for more info:

I guess I should have said in the first place I am on webtv. Webtv cannot send or receive a virus. If that's the problem then it's on her end. I did not send an attachment, just my usual EOA notice. I am going to send the buyer the information I am receiving here. I am still waiting to hear from her.
This board is wonderful, you can always count on people helping.

I have received a reply, here it is. First I would like to say that the buyer has said that the last 4 emails I sent her were blank except for the subject line. She is going through with the auction & will send a check.

I am forwarding the warning that pops up within in square box every time I open any correspondence from you.  This is the gist of it:
Netscape will launch the application:
e:/proga~\\netscape\commun~\program\netscape in order to view a document.
You should be aware that any file you download from the network could contain malicious program code or scripting language.  Simply viewing the contents of these files could be dangerous.  Take precaution _ do not download anything from a site you do not trust!
I am not the most computer literate person in the world; in fact I know very little.  I have been infected with a virus once before so I found this a bit alarming.  It only shows up with your messages; and the warning has surfaced with each of your 4 messages.  So I don't know what to think is the cause.

You could try asking about this in the moderated webtv newsgroup. To get there...

Hit the "GO TO" key

Delete the "http://"

In the empty field, type:

news:webtv.users

You might also try calling 1-800-go WebTV
