Probably from all the negative publicity from all the outages and disgruntled sellers. Any negative goings on even on posts like these have got to shake up the market wouldn't you think?

May be the Califonia lawsuit that is going to court. Several buyers who purchased fake sports memorabilia are suing ebay saying ebay should have caught the fake items and not allowed them to be auctioned. This lawsuit attacks eBays very business model and would have profound consequences if eBay is found liable. Of course ebay claims they are only acting as a venue.

Wall Street investors finally figured out that they eBaycould never make their 50% per year growth goal given the current frequency of outages, each of which cuts their revenue.

I read that eBay has serious competition with another online auction site in Europe. Ebay has Germany and the U.K. but this other company just bought out ricardo.de of Germany and is in 11 countries. (Can I give the name or is it against AW policy?) Anyways I think people are starting to realize that there are other options...
