It most certainly is! Had to add that my comment is not in response to tiptie's post. Just bad timing on my part.

Yup. Surprise, surprise.

I usually have pretty good luck avoiding outages, but this time, it got me.

I'm such a creature of habit. Every time I get the dreaded 404 message, I immediately come to AW to find out if anyone else is having the same problem.

I dont know but I had 5 auctions end so far tonight on yahoo using the bidprice feature. Ever since eBay has been down my bids on yahoo are soaring. Its weird but in a way eBay being down is making me more money. I sorta feel guilty being happy eBay is down.

This is what Ebay has to say for themselves:

"** Our Site Is Temporarily Unavailable **

We are sorry, but our site is temporarily unavailable. We are working to bring the system back up as quickly as possible.

Please check the Announcement Board at http://www2.ebay.com/aw/announce.shtml for updates. We will keep you posted as work progresses. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Regards,
eBay"

I've been buying and selling on ebay for over 2 years now....I am sick of the outtages and system instability...It happens every year around this time of year and I for one have had enough.
I have decided to list 80% of my items on YAHOO from now on and only 20% on Ebay.
I notice that my Yahoo auctions are getting viewed more often (Yes...Yahoo has built-in counters already...whereas ebay is just starting to experiment with them)
Yahoo has an easy to use interface that looks great and very rarely goes down...
Plus...listings are free unless you choose special features (which are also moderately priced) Plus you can convert your ebay feedback to $$$$. You get one dollar for each point in your Ebay feedback rating that you can apply toward special listing features.
I've had enough of the politics and the instability of ebay...I do not like the direction they are headed in...I do like Yahoo's changes and direction!

Ebay "We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.Regards,"

What planet are they from???? an inconvenience?? I do not think I can tell my mortgage company I can not pay you sorry for the inconvenience. They are charging listing fees and then not providing the service. I have auctions closing in an hour with high listing fees. I also have 15 more I wanted to put on.

They may not care about the sellers but those buyers are not going to keep logging on to a site every night that is not functioning. Pretty soon they will find other things to do with their time.

If they really want to apologize they can extend auctions 24 hours and refund listing fees. I will be sending an Email. If I have listed an auction withebay can i relist it with Yahoo?? Or do I have to create a whole new one. I use Auction Manager Pro.

I am soooooooo maaaaaaaddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I checked the announcement board .. THIS is what I got;

Sorry. That Web site is not accepting requests.
(IN BIG BLACK LETTERS)

There has got to be something positive here..
And I thought of something..!!
We don't have to worry about "hackers" taking the site down..
eBay takes care of that.

What's the new adult policy? Maybe I'm out of the loop. I guess I've been struggling to launch my auctions the last few days! I've tried Yahoo, and didn't get any bids! So I'm stuck with EBay! Suggestions?.........

sdurrell - You ask what the new adult policy is at eBay.....they are putting the "mature audience" listings on a different search engine so these auctions will not come up in a search of the main auction site......They are also banning sexually explicit or graphic material....I guess now only the eBayers can get scr*wed on eBay! suhthnbelle
