What criteria do you have to have to be a Merchant for Billpoint??

I don't think it's any specific. As long as you sell something you can offer Billpoint to your bidders.

Valerie---if you look at the Billpoint Fees---if you have a Billpoint Merchant account you only get charged 1.75% rather than 2.5% and you have a transaction limit of $2,000 rather than $500.

"We are very excited that effective October 1, we are lowering and re-structuring your eBay Online Payments fees! Billpoint offers two types of accounts that differ primarily based on sales volume, history, feedback level, and account status on eBay."
Just want to know what volume needed is and how much feedback is enough to qualify for the lower rates

This is interesting too....maybe it's already been commented on here---
"BILLPOINT AVAILABLE OUTSIDE EBAY
In early November, Billpoint will be available for your use outside of eBay. Now you can offer your customers the convenience and security of Billpoint payments no matter where you conduct business!"

Zazzie ...... I think eBay takes it on a case by case basis? I've yet to see them post the # of feedback or the amount of sales needed for the Merchant rate. It can't be much, 'cause I qualified for it.

Gee, you folks must lead a charmed life...or maybe I should just feel insulted. I've been a seller on eBay for nearly 4 years, FB close to 700; and all I got when I asked for the merchant rate is a vague "we'll send it for review."
Meanwhile, of course, I've just had a couple of sizeable auctions end where the seller paid by Billpoint. ouch! That takes a big chunk out of my proceeds.
Still better than worrying about whether or not I'd ever see the $$ from Paypal, though.

I had to go grovel to Ebay customer care for my password. I registered and haven't used it yet---couldn't remember which bank account I used to register and couldn't remember my secret message question.
After doing numerous combinations--I had to write the "Gee..I'm an idiot" letter and ask them for help. I wrote to them this afternoon and by dinner time they had answered me.

Or maybe they just feel sorry for us?

--that's a possiblity.
So Redeer---what so of exchange are you getting---they mentioned something about wholesale and getting a better exchange rate than we could at the bank---so in the end after they grab their 1% it is about equal---or do you have it deposited to a US fund account

The 1% conversion fee is being waved until the New Year, or so I was told. My latest rate [on the 11th] was 1.4825
You can't deposit in a US account, unless the bank's in the US. Besides, my wife spends it as fast as I make it, so no use in doing that.

Zazzie ..... Sure, now ya tell me! BTW - Do you have a bank account in the U.S.? They won't let you deposit into a US account, unless the bank itself is in the US. It has to do with routing #'s.

OK, well once the 1% conversion fee kicks in for us Canucks, you might want to go that route?

I used Billpoint to pay for an auction 4 days ago--it was easy as pie and I got $1 off for using my Visa card! Billpoint sent me a nice email verifying my purchase and said they had notified the seller. That part was great.
Thing is, I emailed the seller myself (who is in another country) to make sure he/she had my address and that all was okay--like perhaps they needed more for shipping to the U.S. or something--and I have not heard from him/her yet.
If sellers use Billpoint--they should still establish some sort of contact with their buyers, IMO.
This on top of the seller who received my (completely filled out) USPS postal M.O. along with a copy of our emails and hadn't mailed my item because she couldn't tell who the payment came from is enough to make me give eBay shopping a rest for a while. I won the auction 3 weeks ago. She emailed me yesterday to say she would be sure to mail it out when she went to the post office this Friday. I don't even want the damn thing anymore.
