I had a few auctions end a couple of days ago and sent out winning bidder notifications. I have heard back from all my winning bidders except one, so I decided to check the status of the email I sent him(since we're both on AOL). It seems he deleted my email although I clearly stated in the subject was the email was. Ok, that could have been a mistake...BUT...I also checked the status of the End of Auction email from eBay and he deleted that too. I went back and checked and he only has 1 feedback and has only been a member since the end of September.

Ok, so obviously I need to send out another winning bidder notification since the first one was deleted, but if he deletes this one too...is that cause enough to file a NPB right away? I think it is, but just want to get other opinions since I don't think well when I'm upset.

Thanks!

How can you check to see if he deleted Ebay's email? I used to have AOL and you could only check to see if someone deleted the emails that (1)was from you and (2) only if you were on AOL.

I don't see how you could check to see if someone else deleted someone ELSE'S emails.

On all incoming and outgoing mail you can check the status of the email for AOL users no matter where the email originates from. I'm not sure if it's always been that way or not, so it may not have been like that when you had AOL. Clicking on status for the End of Auction email from eBay shows that I read it on 10/16/00 at 11:53am and underneath me shows the winning bidder and a (deleted) next to it. ::sigh::

Hmm.. I would send him one more email with "DO NOT DELETE" in the subject bar.. and if he deletes it, then I would start the NPB process...

Thanks Valerie...I did exactly that. Actually I forwarded the End of Auction notice from eBay and put DO NOT DELETE right before it in the subject line.

Found out something interesting just a second ago. I decided to do a bidder search on him to see if he had been bidding on a lot of things. Turns out he's currently the high bidder on another auction for the EXACT SAME item. Guess he figures he'll just ignore my emails and get the item from the other person instead. Oh what joy.

I wouldn't jump the gun quite yet. I also use AOL and I frequently delete my emails after I have printed out what I need. It doesn't mean I am ignoring my "senders".

Also, the end of auction notice that comes from "eBay" itself cannot identify whether or not he deleted his email through AOL, unless you sent that to him from your AOL mailbox. Correct me if I am wrong, please.

Notwithstanding any of that, I wouldn't go off filing for NPB right away. Insofar as the other item is concerned that he is bidding on, are you sure he placed bids after he won your auction, or was he placing bids before. He may have been bidding on both items and then won yours. Also, he may be buying another for a different reason. Since you did not say what you were selling, I couldn't say for sure.

I hope your bidder works out for you. I send end of auction notices alot that are not immediately answered, so give them a few days. As sellers on eBay, I find some of us are a little impatient and don't remember that not all of the world is checking their email and replying as quickly as we are.

Good luck.

I just had the same thing happen to me with a bidder with 0 feedback. Auction closed 9/23....never heard boo from him....did the warning.....last night I looked up his bids and he had bid on 6 identical items and had just won another one at a higher cost. I filed for the credit last night and neg'd him. Today he emails that he's sorry but he's been out of town and will mail a check out. I nicely answered that this item was no longer available and maybe he should see if the other one he won was. The item was a strategy guide for an N64 game.....Don't think anyone needs 6 of them.

On AOL, if status shows delete, that does mean the person deleted it without opening it, otherwise it will show the time he opened and read it whether or not he later deletes it. Anytime ebay sends out notices, such as the non pay or even the winning notifications, if your winner is another AOL user and you hit the status key, it will show both when you open the mail and when the other person opens their mail.

A BIG thankyou to Dragonfyree who said everything I was going to, but didn't know quite how to phrase it. What you said is exactly right.

Also, if the bid history function was working, I could tell you whether or not he bid on the other auction after he bid on mine. Good old eBay.
