For the past three nights all of my auctions were scheduled to end during the down times. End result--low or no bids. Also, the new auctions were scheduled to launch at this time. End result--relist, relist, relist. I like to have my auctions end during the evening, but if I can't get any last-minute bids, there's no reason to list them during that time! However, I keep hoping that "tomorrow night everything will be OK" but this is the third night in a row....! Question: Are you guys changing your listing times to morning or afternoon to avoid another unscheduled down time, or are you still scheduling for the evenings thinking things will be better tomorrow?

Since it seems to be going down around 7:45 where I am, then I was thinking that maybe if I had them end around 7:30 that might work.

Other than that...I am just hoping it gets better soon.

I am trying to string them out different days and hours so I can't get caught in a disaster having them all end Sun. night. It has been good for sales but too dangerous now. I am doing more morning and afternoon. If it is bad for snipers tough.

I run 10 day auctions to end on Sunday and/or Monday evenings around 7 - 8 PM PST.

About three weeks ago I started to ending my auctions around 3 - 4 PST.

I thought this would cut down on the number of bids and the amounts, but to my suprise this has not happened. In fact my total sales and the number of bids/hits are up.

This slowness/down time for eBay seems to happen every year around this time, so I thought it wise to change my listing/ending times. So far I am pleased.

Others may find a different formula that works for them, but this seems to be the one for me.

I've changed my posting habits. I now post every other day and at different times. I've also included the esnipe logo to try and resolve the odd ending times. I hope it works!

I have tried to anticipate the downtimes as well. I am starting and ending my bids during the afternoon hour, between noon and 1pm. I'm not doing myself any favors. I have had the most miserable auctions in months. The bids are either just barely above the minimum bid, or they aren't bid at all. Ebay has to do something about this!

I also added a comment in my description for dutch auctions which are most of mine - that I often end auctions early if I see reliable bids for all the items offered.

Actually, I think I inadvertently rescheduled mine into the "down times", thinking that an extra hour for west coast bidders might help, but I have to say I think we're seeing a benefit (at least I am) of Ebay going down with some regularity. My bids have picked up in the last couple of days, which has me thinking that the net result of the system being unreliable is that bidders who would usually use the "watch and snipe" tactic are being forced to put proxy bids on items they really want, because they can't be sure the system will be up to allow sniping. Hehehehe....and here I'd been wishing that the "watch" feature would just disappear.

Here is the message I submitted in my post "Sunday Meltdown" after the disaster last weekend:

Not so sure that Sunday is the magic day anymore. Seems as though it has collapsed of it's own weight. I'm starting to list things to close on Friday, Saturday, even Wednesday, but not Sundays. Too d^mn slow. Have been getting great prices on Friday and Saturday afternoons/evenings

I realllllly think Sundays have been over-rated. My counter data seems to indicate that Weds through Sundays is fine. Anywhere from 1pm - 8pm Pacific Time, am trying to refine that down by collecting more data. eBay is so slow on most Thursday and Sunday evenings, that time looks like the worst to moi!

Ebay was a mess all last evening. I am trying hard to do my listing at 4-7PM EST. I guess that means our West Coast friends will have to do ebay at work. ; - ) This gives me time later in the evening to load photos and send my email notices.
