From eBay Announcement Board, Meg’s 3rd Qtr. Comments. Really too long to post in their entirety, so I am offering an abbreviated version. You will have to read the full version for all the details. I hope that everyone gets to take a 24-ounce cup of non-decaffeinated coffee in to staff meetings...

Dear eBay Community:

Today, we held our quarterly earnings conference call for the third quarter 2000. I want to share with you our results.

First, a few highlights...

Second, ...

Third, ...

Fourth, ...

Finally, ...

Lastly,...

In summary, ...

Without a doubt, ...

Looking ahead, ...

The fundamental principles by which we govern and build this company for the future remain unchanged.

First: Profitablity (sic)

Second: Singularity of Focus

Third: Execution

And lastly: Leadership

As always, let me acknowledge the incredible diversity, dedication and determination of you, our community of buyers and sellers. You have truly built eBay. Without you, none of this could be possible.

Thank you very much.
Meg

I was also struck by the fact that she apparently knows what profitability IS, but she can’t spell it correctly.

It was interesting to note that site stability is no longer considered as important as making a profit and expanding the user base.

Maybe I'm missing something here but if the site doesn't stay up, the user base AND their profits may shrink as disgusted ebayers become FORMER ebayers, right?

We could all move over to Yahoo! Auctions, they don't charge listing fees, Yahoo! Pay Direct is free. Better method of purchasing, can offer a buy price, can't do that on eBay! Maybe if we all move to Yahoo! drop eBay as a unit, eBay will see the error of their ways! We could all work together and boycott eBay and bring Yahoo! up to Number 1 status and place eBay in the toilet.
