Hi, everyone: When I am bidding on an item that has an unknown reserve price, one thing bothers me (maybe this is an old question and everyone knows the answer already, though?).
Let's say the item starts at $10, the bidding goes up in little increments, I do a proxy bid of $20, and it looks sometimes as though I've hit the reserve price. Why then doesn't eBay bump the bidding up to that reserve price?
I believe this has happened a few times, where my maximum bid was high enough to hit the reserve price but the item closed lower without hitting the reserve.

It doesn't bump the price up until one of your bids actually meets the reserve price. Your bid could have been just 50 cents below reserve, and it still wouldn't say it had met reserve.

Hi all
I have had an item with an undisclosed reserve. It was bid on once, (single bidder auction), and the reserve was met. The bidder was not even aware of the reserve price until after the auction ended. At which point I informed her of the price, she agreed to it and was a happy customer upon receipt.

bullshitter--you're kidding, right? Can this be true? Please don't take advantage of a very gullible lady. I can't believe eBay would do that.
