Hello, I have a customer in Japan that says she will pay me by EMS (Telegraphic Transfer Money Order). She knows I accept bidpay but in both her emails she only mentions that she will pay me by EMS. Does she mean Bidpay?

The Post Office is Japan has some sort of deal where they can purchase a domestic money order for the country it is going to. Maybe that is what she means---the ones I have gotten have been mailed to me from Canada Post (I'm in Canada)--and have all the information about the buyer on it. They were in US $$

I have read about this. In Japan they do what we would call wire transfers but it is common instead of writing checks. I have no idea if they can do it to foreign systems. Japan is odd in that they are a cash based economy still . Very few people have cridit cards or debit cards.
Hooray! A topic I can finally talk with confidence about.
I'm an American living in Japan and I do eBay and Yahoo auctions both in the US and Japan.
In Japan, successful bidders do wire transfers from their bank account into my bank account. Although the bidder has my account number, they can only make deposits. It's a really simple transaction which you can do from ATM's(Why not USA?). You can also pay your bills, and buy goods and services this way. Although they charge you around $3.00. You get your ATM receipt and it shows up in your bank statement.
This is so cool. I love getting confirmation that my payment has been deposited. Then I mail their item C.O.D. Delivery Charges. It's very simple and convenient for both parties.
Tell your customer to just buy an International Postal Money Order (Pink) It can be purchased at the P.O. and they charge 1 yen over the official exchange rate along with a 500 yen service charge. I use these all the time to pay for auctions in the US. They can be deposited anywhere including eBay, PayPal, etc. Money is Money.
EMS is the Express Mail Service like the US. Global Priority Mailers. It usually can reach the US in 2-4 days.
You can do a Telegraphic Transfer of money but it will cost $20-$40.
