I got this piece about a year and a half ago. The piece is not marked. I have been searching eBay for quit some time now to find anything that even remotely resembles it....I come up with nothing.
Its a Beautiful piece that appears hand-blown and hand-painted. parts of the painted areas are raised. It is a bluer color then shown in the pics.
I just wish I knew who made it. I think it is an older piece as I got it from an estate sale and this woman had collected everything for years and years. She 5 rooms FULL of glasswear alone.
Any help sure would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

This is a great peice here its not hand blow its more then likely molded.
stemed candy dish with nice fancy lid.hand tri color painted cherry blossum this almost looks like some of the trim could be gold leaf.
The hand painting is cherry blossum I dont know who made this No matter its fairly aged and I have seen these hand painted carnival glass cherry blossum peices sell from $150 to $2000 .

that was last year though and the glass catagorys seem to have died out I just did a search on yahoo only 1027 listings in carnival glass and only 9 bids in this area .

dman3,
Thats very interesting. That crystal clear ribbon that goes around both pieces is applied. Yes, I think molded would be a more accurate description.
I gave $100.00 for it a year and a half ago and thought i must be out of my mind to bid that much. I just couldn't resist it, it is so beautiful.
I haven't decided yet whether I'm even going to sell it. It looks pretty nice in my hutch.

Thanks for the info..hopefully someone can put name to it

The applied decoration looks alot like the style of Norleans. It does seem to be more ornate than most you see in that line though. But the cecoration is almost a dead ringer.

Although your piece is much, much more beautiful, I have a purple-glass with gold wine decanter set that has very similar hand-painted flowers (3 flowers, though, with leaves bordering).

My parents brought it back for me on their trip to Italy ... let's see, that would have been 11 years ago.

Italian giftware, 60's, 70's, the gilding and floral decor are a dead giveaway.

Thanks everyone for the input.
I just come from doing a search on bohemian glass and I did find a couple of pieces that had the heavy gold gilding and flowers. They were vases and some type of jar.
No candy dishes like this one.
All were pretty pricey with NO bids.

At least I know now what I'm looking for.

Ok here you go My brother I concider him more or less a glass expert been dealing in this now on 15 to 18 years now.

he say this definatly looks by your picture to be Bohemian the trim is indeed goldleaf maybe 24k gold leaf the hand painting is cherry blossums.

he says not to feel not to feel out of your mind getting this for a $100 bid is a great buy he might have bid up to $250 or more if he was buying this for resale it has a book value of $550 and at online auction on a good week you more then like like would see far better then book value on this.

He said Unfortunately most of the good Weeks for Carnival glass and other glass catagories is over for a bit. last year he was selling from $700 to $2000 every other week in carnival glass and in the last 5 months he hasnt been able to sell three peices.

Ok, I just found a seller on eBay that has a whole LOT of bohemian pieces up for auction. The ones with this pattern are called "MURANO" and she even shows a sticker label on one of the pieces.
She doesn't date the pieces. There prices high and only a few have bids. She has a small candy dish with same design that has a $175.00 bid on it.
I feel pretty good now about my investment. Its the birds when you see it and you know it looks good but have no idea what the heck it is.
I swear I got to get a bigger place for all those things I buy then decide I like them to well myself to resell them

Hi Packer

I thought that Bohemian and Murano were 2 different things...

Murano is Italian glass, made in Murano Italy, I have Murano figurines, and most have the Murano stickers that say that they are.

She could be right, but Murano I believe (I've been known to be wrong! ) is not a glass pattern.

Looks like a lovely piece of handpainted Venetian glass to me, dating from the last half of the 20th century, with 22-24k gold trim. Still being produced, as far as I know.

This is nice stuff and I would belive it is still being produced today.

Shelly

Bohemian and Murano are two different things but the patern on the Bohemian can still be Murano like if someone who did art for murano went to work for Bohemian they would bring there art and skill designs and paterns with them, now you have two fine qualitys togeather .

Forget it Overworked

I to have some glass here that I cant give away today the market for it has dried up some.

the glass is valuble but there is so much of it out there for sale in the past year and a half that interest in it isnt waht it was before online auction brought out old collectors who were happy to make 5x what they paid for this not 5 or 6 years before.
