I have a political pin of a Turn-of the-Century (the one before this last one) and don't have a clue as to who this guy is. I've looked in books, on the web in the dictionary's Bio section, all to no avail. I want to list it but need to know who it is for the title.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Hope the pic shows up. This is my first try at doing this.

This may not be a political in nature. I have seen turn of the century pins with non-politicians.

Muriel,
That's impossible. This guy looks like he's NEVER been on a date.

Hi There! Looks like William Jennings Bryan, presidential candidate, ran against I think Taft, 1896.

Hi Secondmouse,
I checked Bryan out and it's not him.
Thanks though.

He doesn't appear in my Presidential and Campaign Memorabilia book. He looks too young to have been a candidate. I would guess he was a poet or author. IMHO

judging by the way his hair is messed up...I'd say he was just jumped from behind by Al Gore during a TV debate.

That would appear to be mascara under the eyes, suggesting an entertainer of some sort.

Grandma (around 106 yrs, 134 days, time unknown, old as of this post) says it's the guy who ran aganst Theodore Roosevelt. But, her memory can't recall, and I can find any site that mentions who he is.

Crystalline_Silver: Sorry, but if your grandmother is refering to to Theodore Roosevelt's 1904 presidential election opponents, it's not them.

The intended primary election opponent within his party was Marcus Hanna, who died before the primaries.

Hanna's picture is at this site (picture matches a different one at another site as well): http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAhanna.htm

Alton Parker was the major opponent in the actual election. Search for him on eBay, and you'll find several buttons. Not the same person either.

The only other 1904 candidate I could find mentioned as Eugene Debs (a socialist). No resemblance either.

It doesn't look like Roosevelt's VP (Adlai Ewing Stevenson) either. (http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=S000889)

Roosevelt actually became president in 1901, due to the assassination of McKinley.

Maybe it was one of McKinley's opponents (when T. Roosevelt was on his ticket as VP)?

[ Corrected a reference. ]

A friend of mine collects "photo pins." Common people could have them made...like a tintype. This could well be a private citizen. I've purchased several, of children, as gifts for my friend. Children are her favorites....

I'm really sure he wasn't a political person or he would have appeared in my political campaign memorabilia book. I have a feeling he is a poet or author. Has anyone else seen that picture that is of six men. Each of the men are famous authors. Like Byron for instance.
