Hi I opened my mail with outlook express and my Norton Anti Virus software quarantined an Email with the Kak Virus. I ran the virus protection software and it came up with nothing. No quarantined files or infected. So does any one know, is it gone??

The Kak took my whole system down for a week last time and then I installed the Norton. But the software now days does not come with manuals.

I am afraid to turn off my system.

You should be able to open Nortons up, then go into your "Quarantine" area, and delete the infected file.

I use Netscape Navigator for email, but that's always worked for me when kak has been quarantined. Once you hit delete, it's gonzo.

I have a small application file that will clean your system if Norton doesn't take care of it.

You MUST go to the Microsoft/Windows Update site and install the security patches for this worm. The patches have been available since the winter of 1999. Once you run the patches, you'll be safe from KAK.

If you want the file, email me at [email protected] and I'll send it to you. You save it to your desktop, run it, then reboot and KAK is all gone.

Hi thanks for the quick help. I did install the security patches after I had the last episode.

I didn't know how to safely delete the files using the Norton. First time it ever popped up with a virus caution.

How do I notify the person? Can I open the file and reply to his message??
