The following is pure fiction:
*** TECH MESSAGE FROM EBAY ***
Dear eBay Community:
Over the last few weeks, we have been hearing from community members about system performance and periods of site unavailability. We thought it would be best to talk about these issues today, rather than
wait until our next formal tech update.
We lied. We blew it. We waited 'til our 3rd Q earnings were out to mess with our system. Anyone with the sense to pour poop out of a boot would never mess with retail sales in October.
We don't care. We don't have to care - we're eBay, and if you don't like it, take your stupid sales to Yahoo or Amazon. We're the big guns; we're Numero Uno.
Can't see your seller's list? Tough noogy - hey and we won't even give you an alternative link - you have to find that on your own at a message board.
We deeply understand how important optimal site performance is to the community, and we could care less. For every person who leaves eBay disgusted, 10 newbies will keep our bucks rollin' in. We'd like to say we appreciate your continued support of the entire eBay community, but we don't appreciate anything but bucks.
