Just guessing, but if they allow sellers to have multiple ID's I can't see any reason why buyers couldn't have the same priviledges ...

Did you have a reserve on the auction? Because if you did, he may have been testing what the reserve was, found it, retracted and then rebid under new ID, AND that is not allowed.

Hi Mombo,
I did this once when I forgot and used my Sellers ID instead of my Bidders ID. I have one each so that I can keep my records straight. But I did notify the seller that I made the original bid and retraction and had rebid with the correct ID. She was very understanding and I won the item also!!

Although it is permissable to have multiple ID's, there can be no interaction between those ID's. I think this would be considered interaction.
However, in this case, I really don't see how any harm was done.

I agree that it could be considered interaction. In a situation like this, one would normally be concerned about bid shielding, but since the first ID retracted before the second ID bid, I don't think that's the case here. I'd also wonder if they were testing another bidder's proxy, but since there is no other bidder, that's also not the case. I think think the most likely explanation is that they used the wrong ID to bid the first time.
