Ok, auction ends today. Auction clearly states: "Payment required within 10 days".

I send my customer the EOA email.

She responds:

Will send payment out on 11/10

On the 11th day I always begin the FVF credit process.

I personally feel that if this was her intention, she should have emailed me prior to bidding since it was clearly stated in the auction that payment is required within 10 days.

What would you do?

I would say...excuse me, perhaps you missed this part of our agreement...and restate your TOS, with a link to the auction.

Well, we require payment in 10 days, but the fact is many don't comply - and since eBay isn't going to enforce your "rules", there really isn't much you can do - I'd let it ride - I'd rather have a sale and a happy customer than a hassle over one day.

Particularly, if the customer specified a given day, perhaps they can't make payment till that time OR they are the type of buyer who really wants to argue or find a reason not to buy, and is pushing your buttons on the 1 day of difference.

One way or the other, I'd act oblivious to their comment and be happy if I got paid on the 11/10 -

jwpc: I'm not sure you understand. The difference isn't just 1 day. Payment would be DUE on 11/5. They want to MAIL OUT payment on 11/10 - which is 15 days after the auction ends. And who knows *if* they will actually mail payment on that date or when I would receive it. I've noticed that most of the time when someone says they will pay at a later date: I never receive the payment at all.

Could it have been a typo? Maybe they meant 11/01? I've done that on checks....actually I consider myself lucky if I remember to put 2000 instead of 1999.

I'd give them the benifit of the doubt and email them a reminder that payment must be made within 10 days and that mailing payment by the 10th would be to late.
