Received this notice from eBay Billpoint today, may be of interest to some others here. I have been listing Billpoint electronic checks as one of my payment options as they are free, and they seem to be working out quite well for both me & my auction bidders. Haven't decided yet to accept credit cards, but this free temporary promotion is kind of interesting. I received the same e-mail too - but my customers just don't use BillPoint, and I have quit noting in my auctions that I'll accept it - knowing eBay, the rules regarding it will constantly change, and I just don't want to mess with a system that I have to go in and send an invoice - that format doesn't fit with our business process.....
The current battle between 3rd party credit card services (i.e.) BillPoint, PayPal, PayDirect, etc., etc., remind me of the old saving & loans that use to give away a toaster if you opened an account, and people ran around from Savings company to Savings company to get those free appliances, and in the process constantly lost interest on their money which never stayed in one place long enough to accrue any interest.
Personally, I'll stay with PayPal, I love it and my customers do to....and that is what really matters.
