I went to their site and Exchangepath sounds a lot like Paypal, not the new Paypal but the Paypal of days gone by. You can send and receive money free of charge.

I want to phase-out Paypal totally and I want to know if there are many people using Exchangepath or if anyone has any comments, pro or con regarding their services.

Also, any feelngs as to whether Exchangepath is a viable alternative to paypal?

Thanks

Looks good to me! I just signed up, and then went to revise my auction to take out Paypal and put in Exchangepath. I just wonder if bidders will be put off since it's not been heard of?

I have it on all my listings, Yahoo & eBay. The only problems have been on the buyers part, not sure why? It's an easy one to use.
I think that no longer accepting PayPal has had a minor effect, but it'll pick back up!

For a long time I did not even bother bidding on non-Paypal auctions because it was just easier then buying and mailing out a money order and items I won were usually sent out much faster.

Since all the changes I wouln't send a dime via paypal and I empty my account as soon as there is any money in it.

The majority of my auction winners have paid with Paypal and I am thinking that perhaps some (or many) might be put off or not bid on auctions that do not accept Paypal.

I wonder why I have not heard more about Exchangepath since they are so much like the "old" Paypal and there are not many free CC companies any more.

I remember when I began selling I heard about Paypal all the time, it was all over eBay related boards and perhaps 6 out of 10 of my auction winners whined because at the time I didn't take Paypal and if I click on the link below I could join paypal and receive $5.00 blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, any ideas of how to promote the idea of using Exchangepath in lieu of Paypal and not lose bidders in the process?

I've had 10 ExchangePath transactions so far & so far, it has worked FLAWLESSLY!

The moola is in my account within 48 hours! The only complaint I have is that 3 buyers COULD NOT sign up for the service! They wern't happy campers as they missed out on the (now dead!) $10.00 promotion!

BTW: I think the fact the EP dumped the $10.00 sign-up bonus is gonna kill them!

Sellers can run to and fro for the "current" best deals in the 3rd party credit card service - the problem is I don't believe buyers are going to do the same thing.

Unless there is a very good reason for a buyer to change services, I don't see them following every whim of the seller.

I am registered with 3 services, plus we have our own Merchant's Account - of my charge customers 95% use PayPal, 2% call us direct, about 1/10 of a percent use PayDirect, and No one uses BillPoint.

I am personally very happy with PayPal, and I personally don't believe customers are going to follow endless service changes, so I'll stay with PayPal, they have done well by me.

Just my opinion.

I've been real happy so far, too. Took my first money out the other day (to my checking account) and that happened fairly fast.

Of course, I don't have any illusions -- I don't expect it to be free forever, but I am hoping they will have learned from all PayPal's errors and flaws how NOT to handle their business from this point on. I won't wait nearly as long as I did with PayPal to RUN not walk away if they ever show evidence of any of those problems. Fees in and of themselves won't make me run away, but poor business practices absolutely will.

As more sellers (and buyers) sign up for ExchangePath and other services (PayPlace, Yahoo PayDirect, perhaps others), buyers will become more comfortable with those other options. PayPal has at least gotten them used to the idea. Happily, ExchangePath also takes more different cards.

With all the help that ExchangePath is getting from PayPal, it really won't make much of a difference in the long run. PayPal is ExchangePath's best friend right now.

I have no problems whatsover getting customers to switch. I just provide them with a few links to AW PayPal threads and wait for the money to show up in my ExchangePath account. Like I said, works like a charm!

Edit for speeeling...

I signed up for Exchange Path no one has used this as of yet so I have yet to even receive the $10 I would get for signing up.

seems nice sounds like PayPal but keep in mind they are warning you you are only trying it free it wont stay free.

I honestly think if your gonna switch from paypal that a system that the buyers dont have to join is the key this would insure they could pay you with credit cards even if they dont want to join every service.
Im just curious why more arent moveing over to propay service.

Well, thanks for the comments, I just signed up.

Any more advise on auction wording to get people to pay via exchangepath?

I agree with JWPC, the buyers could care less what the seller uses, if the buyer has signed up with PayPal, that is the service they will use, regardless of the ever changing mood of the seller. I too will stay with PayPal. This is business, and business requires that one accommodate the buyer, not necessarily what is the seller's current desire.

Well perhaps easing customers into using the new service right along with PayPal. Saying something like I am offering those not happy with PayPal practices an alternative with Exchangepath. Simple to use and very reliable! Offer them both, and soon Exchangepath will also be a household word! Eveyrone starts somewhere huh? going to have a look-see!

Nonsense. Buyers want to use plastic and/or get the item quicker. Most won't really care which service they sign up with (or that they are asked to sign up for another).

Here's my language:
We accept your credit cards through ExchangePath, PayPlace and YahooDirect (sorry, no longer accepting PayPal), as well as personal checks and money orders.

Easy.

When you advertise ExchangePath in your auctions, you might want to include that they accept American Express and Discover. There are a lot of people who really like that they can use the Card. I've now had quite a few use ExchangePath with no trouble. I even had one lady who signed up without using me as a referral, contact them to give me my bonus later and THEY DID IT!!!'
