Had an expensive guitar that closed several days ago for a good amount (hundreds). The bidder contacted me immediately and things seemed to be going perfectly. As I was preparing it for packing I discovered a nearly invisible, expertly repaired crack and my heart sank.

I emailed the winner immediately and told him the bad news, that he was under no obligation to go through with the purchase at all, but if he wanted he could still buy it at a greatly reduced price, etc. He turned it down initially, then emailed back the next day and asked how much I needed and we settled on a price, 300.00 bucks lower than his bid.

He just got the guitar and loves it and left me one of the nicest feedbacks.

You win some and you win some.

Hey that's great!
Too bad about the crack, but at least you are honest about it.

I lift my glass to you LooseCannon.

May your sales soar,
May your buyers pay swiftly,
May the auction gods smile on you,
May your feedback swell with glowing praise,
May you be a beacon of light and direction to those sellers with good eyesight and poor ethics.

Salute!

Class action on your part. May the auction gods grant you the mother of all bidding wars for your honesty.

I hope you have other musical instruments for sale, because you can be sure that this customer (and his friends) will be checking your auctions regularly.

You didn't lose $300, you invested it.

I love warm fuzzies!

Just last week, I refunded 2 bidders IN FULL and sent the items anyway after finding flaws.

It was worth eating the shipping price just to get the gushy emails in return

ang - who should probably check her items better. LOL

Way to go, Loosecannon. Actions like that go a long way to negate the negative press eBay sellers seem to always get!!

What size slippers do you wear? Do you want the ones with the bunnies on top?

Hey, thanks everyone for the warm fuzzies. I don't deserve all the praises though. I screwed up!

Plus, at the time I was terrified that he'd give me a neg...not so heroic after all eh brie49?

Anyway, it's a great when something good comes out of something bad.

Thank you Loosecannon for making all of us look good!
Dumb things I have done~thought a rare glass cookie jar was perfect, didn't know that glass could be ground down to hide chips~until the bidder showed me what it was SUPPOSED to look like~loss of about 50.00.
Relisted and resold a book that I had sold and shipped a month earlier.
Mixed up two boxes and sent an old doll head to a lady who was waiting for vintage christmas lights~boy, was she surprised!

If I lost $300.00 like that , I'd feel like a sucker. He probably wouldn't even have noticed if you didn't open your big mouth.

None, I'm way too clumsy and hate things on my feet. So I just walk around with blue toes most of the time

Hi Oddish!

Too many nice people around here saying too many nice things, except for our blubberiferous sneezing walrus friend that is.

Please lock the thread.

Thanks to all.
