Today I received a laserdisc in the mail. I was expecting to see one of the two outstanding orders that I have from ebay auctions. Much to my suprise, it is not one that I ordered. To make things worse, I don't recognize the sender's name or address.

I checked my records and the two sellers I'm currently dealing with live in the states of Washington and Maryland. The person that sent me the laserdisc lives in New York.

I also sell laserdiscs. I checked my customer database and I only have to customers from New York, but our transactions were completed months ago.

I searched the ebay database for closed auctions for this particular title. None of the sellers claim to be from New York or any of the surrounding states.

How would you handle this? I could send her a snail mail, but I feel foolish asking her why she sent me the laserdisc. I can't imagine bidding, paying and forgetting. Especially since the title is one that I've just sold and I'm waiting for the payment. I must admit that I immediately checked for the one that is on hold. I was afraid that I'd sent it out by mistake and someone was returning it. It is still here -- now I have two copies.

Have you ever had this happen to you?

No - but if you ever figure out why people send you free stock please mail me.

Could someone have bought it for you? For a gift or surprise?

I don't think it was a surprise gift. The only titles I order are collector's items. The one I received is currently available on vhs, dvd and laserdisc. The laserdiscs I sell belong to my brother. He has about 900 laserdiscs and he wants me to sell most of them. He is only going to keep the rare ones. Plus, outside of my customers, my brother is the only one I know who is into laserdiscs.
