Anyone else notice this problem? I think it could be serious.

I was browsing the Ending Today last night in a collectible category with 25 or so pages. Lots to look at. I looked at something I didn't recognize, and went on. A bit later I happened to see it in one of my reference books and could've made a killing. . . so went back to find it.

Wasn't there. WAS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NOT THERE! I checked EVERY page I'd looked at(including those that had closed by this time), not once, not twice, but 3 times. Not there. Period.

Earlier in the evening DH was browsing and I heard him muttering to himself that he couldn't find sometehing. After giving up on my quest, I cried on his should and he said the same thing had happened to him -- when he went back to find something he'd looked at earlier, he couldn't find it.

Another thing I've noticed (often, tho I haven't been browsing that much lately) is pages showing up out of sequence. You click on the next page in the sequence and you get one you've already looked at. OR you click on a page you've already looked at and a different page comes up, out of sequence.

BTW, neither of these problems have anything to do with their updates -- there was no update going on during my time browsing last night.

With sheer numbers of auctions (so buyers can only find your auctionss thru search or "New Today" or "Ending Today" AND my bid to listing ratio so low (and getting lower) in this category for ME anyway, I'm seriously concerned about auctions disappearing, or possibly not even showing up.

Anyone else noticed either of these problems?

I have noticed how strange the searches are. Let's say I click on Books, then Non-Fiction and the Sports and enter 'Baseball'. If I just do a 'title' search I'm OK, but if I do a 'title and description' search I get days, sometimes weeks (!) old pages.

I clear my cache regularly and I know about the two different data bases thing. But if someone lists a baseball book and doesn't put the word baseball in the title, just in the description (for instance, they use the book's title as their title and it doesn't include the word baseball, but then mention it is a baseball book in the description), I will never see their auction!

I emailed ebay and just got a canned reply that wasn't really aimed at the problem. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly?!

Expecting to get a real answer to your question from a live human being.

Not sure if this is related or not, but I was looking at some items... 4 pages worth... when I clicked to go to page 3, I get the message saying that nothing could be found for that certain search. Has this ever happened to anyone???

Hmmm, looks like ebay has more problems than I thought. Wow.

Someone needs to check these things out, I think. TAG -- are you listening?

I was searching for books the other night and it would come up "sorry, no items found", I would refresh the screen and there were 100,s.

All of the above has happened to me. I thought maybe it was me.

rarrifle - Haven't the search functions been real problematic for ebay lately, or is that only seller search?

Okay, c'mon. Who else? What other *little flubs* almost no one notices are affecting our sales?

much as everyone hates it, "watch this item" does have its uses...

CleverGirl--
Could be that the item you were looking for had just ended? I've noticed that when an auction ends, it doesn't immediately show up in the ended auctions section, it sometimes takes a few hours for it to show up there. So it goes into limbo for a couple hours.

No, jema, I wasn't looking in the COMPLETED AUCTIONS , I was looking in the ENDING TODAY auctions. Unless you pull these up immediately after they do a category update, there'll be closed auctions among the ones ending within the next few minutes to 24 hours.
