Hello,
I have MS Publisher, Encarta and some other CD's that are all win 3.1 that were purchased after I bought my computer. I sent in the cards and registered them to me.
Ok...I donated my computer and they weren't taking the software.
I thought maybe there were some win 3.1'ers who might want to bid.
Now I am concerned if I am "illegal" if I sell them. I still am new and my feed back is very very low, but I have a good about me page and so far everyone's been happy.
Any ideas? Will I get kicked out of ebay?
Should I try another place like yoohoo
Thanks!

Lilreddog (I am something else on ebay, maybe I will put a closed auction for critique as soon as I find my style!)

ps thank you for all the digital camera help! I ended up with a fuji finepix 1400 but not on ebay, cuz they were going to high! Even higher than the place I got it.

Just advertise it as used software and you should be fine. Microsoft does a hissy fit only about new software and used operating system software.

If you bought the software personally, and separately from the computer, generally you are allowed by the terms of the "usual" microsoft license to sell them. It helps to use the term "retail" to describe them, since this tells the world (and any snoops) that you have the right to sell them. (as opposed to "bundled" software that came with the computer, that often says you may not resell it).

Generally speaking, even if microsoft does find your auctions and object (improperly) to them, the typical ebay punishment is to close your auctions. Only if you persist in re-auctioning them do they sometimes take further action.

Check going prices to make sure its worth your while to sell them, by the way. Old software is often worthless.

Fuhgetaboutit. The flea market price of that software is $0.

I had some brand-new, still sealed in the box, older pinball game software that I literally could not sell online.

I have given it to my dad to sell at the flea market. He says what is not gone by Christmas is going to Goodwill.

Well thank you so much everyone!
I may take a stab and list it as a big old lot.
But thanks for saving me a few $$$ on listing fees.
My feeling was that they were too old, but they were useful in their day!
Thanks!!!

List the whole shebang as one lot. Start the bidding at 1 cent. You just might be surprised how it ends up. If it doesn't sell you're out a quarter. But my bet is that it will, and probably for more than you expect.
