I just recieved my first payment by BidPay. I was sent an email stating that the customer has made payment and a Money Order was in the mail. My customers usually use PayPal to send payments made by credit cards and I ship immediately upon recieveing the email. Since I am actually recieving payment by mailed M/O rather then direct electronic deposit as with PayPal, is it the norm to treat this transaction as being paid upon arrival of the BidPay email or should I wait untill I recieve the M/O before shipping? I trust the payment will indeed arrive when I recieve the email from BidPay but I have been waiting until the check actually arrives before shipping the item. Id hate to make my customers wait if it is commen practice to ship immediatley when using BidPay. How do I proceed in the future?
Ship immediately upon recieving BidPay email or wait for the check to arrive?

Do NOT ship until you get the second confirmation email. BidPay makes a big point of this in their first email.

I ship when I get the second confirmation email...nary a problem. The Western Union money order comes within 3 to 5 days...

I have used Bidpay many times. Usually Bidpay sends two notices to you. The first is one says the customer has requested a Western Union money order for $xx.xx be sent to you and that the payment is pending approvial.

The second one states that the request has been approved and that the money order is on the way and that it is safe to send the merchandise at that point.

I never wait after the second email is sent to me. I mail the next day. Most of the money orders have reached me 2 - 3 days later.

Hi all... this is Marek from Bidpay.

You are absolutely correct. We do send TWO emails. One when the order is placed and a second when the order is confirmed.

Once an order has been confirmed and we send the second email there are only one thing that can stop it.

If it is lost in the mail and we need to replace it for the seller and send out a replacement payment. PERIOD! No exceptions.

Thanks

Marek

That's good to know. I just had my first BidPayer. I'll get their item ready to ship.

One problem with BidPay though is no humans at the other end of the phone only an ansering machine. That's frustrating and simply bad busine$$. Get a 800 number like Pay Pal so humans can discuss the problem not have to email it to you...

Hi Empires...

I've had absolutely no problems with BidPay...that's one reason I like it.

I'm very interested to know what problems you've had, so I can be forewarned.

toke The problem I had was attempting to call them and get a human on the phone to discuss a security problem I had with their Money Orders. I do not like their confirmation of emails and lack of visual authentication.

Just curious here: Lack of visual authentication of what?

Empires...

I don't quite understand what you mean. Are you saying you don't like confirmation by email?

I like the idea of the confirmation email. Something about Bid Pay's delivery of the money orders, and the emails that doesn't lend itself professional in my opinion and the fact that they have no live phone number unless you want to buy a money order, but not if you're a seller... I'm sure it's my perception... or Spidey senses going off.

I've received several payments through BidPay and have had no problems at all. Once I get that second confirmation email from them, I ship the merchandise. I had one bidder from South America pay me through BidPay and had the money order (in US currency) in my hands 3 days later! Great service! Wish more people would use it!

I have a question for Marek. I am a big fan of your service, and advertise it in my auctions. I have had a couple dozen transactions with you but I am not registered.

I had my first problem this week and although it turned out okay in the end, I have to admit, it's made me a bit skittish.

A customer entered my address incorrectly. Very easy mistake, everything was correct but the state. I live in a city that has the same name as cities in at least 2 other states, maybe more.

I noticed the mistake in the first email. For personal reasons I did not want to register at the time and so immediately mailed both my customer and Bidpay to advise the error.

Long story short, 4 separate emails sent to Bidpay were ignored, including one I sent direct from you web site. Each had the transaction number, all the details, and a plea to correct and to post back to advise. I was begging.

I ship on the 2nd confirmation generally and could not in this case, since according to the information I had, my money was going to Maine which is not my neighborhood. So in the end, the MO made it here and I shipped but my customer had to wait and also fret about it all because Bidpay can't answer FOUR emails.

This has left me with the first bad taste in my mouth with your service, and I hope you can post back to explain why no one responded.

Thanks.

VeryModern That's my point as well. No contact other than the email addy or non-toll free number. Now, you can't tell me BidPay can't swing the deal. The answer message machine at best was insulting. "The reason we can't answer the phone is because we're doing exactly what you've paid us to do....

As a seller accepting Bid Pay, I didn't hire you per se, the buyer did. But with a problem at hand, I felt left out of touch within the process or having it corrected. I have since received a committment from Bid Pay, but still out the $82.00 till this week when the mail either arrives or I'm emailing again and closing my account. I don't like non human online services that do not have a human at the phone to take the complications out of the process and I don't want to be your test case to work out the bugs- please.

Hi VeryModern!

That does sound like a major mess. I hope Marek comes around soon and responds to you.

Empires...

I still don't understand the problem. What "visual authentication" are you looking for?

Ooooh.. that's what the message says when you call? Yuck.

Well if that's how they answer the phone, then I was truly deluded to think I would get an email answered.

One deal like this and you go from "highly recommend Bidpay" to "you are welcome to use Bidpay at your own risk, - we will ship when the MO is in hand..."

For the record it has been about 10 days now and no response. It really is not acceptable, and I am pretty shocked since I have always perceived Bidpay to be a class act.
