Now that Paypal's international services are a few days old, I was curious if anyone had used it successfully and to what end. Is everyone having the problems with registering their CC? Have we found out if the fees are charged to the seller or to the buyer? Have you had transactions with Ebay sellers in the US or internationally? Share your experiences!

I've had darn few buyers these last few weeks - period!

EBay has done such a wonderful job of chasing buyers away with all of their shut-downs and screw-ups, I doubt any foreign buyers are even willing to get on eBay for a week or two from now. That is, provided eBay stays up and running long enough!

Sales have been good, lotsa International buyers, and every last one that used a CC to pay, used Billpoint.

I came here looking for an answer to this as I have an International buyer wanting to pay through PayPal. Has anyone had an international bidder use it?

I have an international buyer wanting to use it. She did the account sign-up proceedure but the said she now has to go through the validation process. I don't know what PayPal has set up for validation on these accounts. I hope it doesn't take too terribly long or it could discourage international buyers from using it.

Now, my question... The fee schedule for this service states there is an International Currency Fee. Their site states, "PayPal charges a fee when currency is converted to or from U.S. dollars. This occurs when you send money from, or withdraw money to, an international credit or debit card. The curent fee is 2.6% of the amount plus $0.30 per transaction."

Notice they misspelled "curent."

My question is whether they front-load that conversion fee and charge the buyer when the transaction takes place or, more likely, add another fee for the sellers on top of everything else we get as fees. I assumed the latter and informed my buyer that she would be responsible for the currency fee. She didn't have a problem with it. If someone could give me a definitive answer that the seller bears the currency fee conversion, I would be most appreciative. Paypaldamon perhaps? Thanks.

Lots of questions, but no answers. Is paypaldamon around to give us some answers? I'm also quite interested to know why PP is charging a "conversion fee" for something that my CC handles. I've used my CC many times to purchase from the US and the merchant doesn't do the conversion, my CC does.

Apparently, they're not off to a very good start...

Just had about 10 auctions won by non-US bidders, and they all paid by credit card... 8 through Billpoint and 2 through BidPay.

Nobody seems interested in PayPal, probably because it's not working.

Well I guess we'll see. I'm waiting for them to "verify" my CC as we speak. I'll keep you posted.

I received a Int'l Paypal from the U.K. yesterday. They used credit card. I wonder though if an eCheck is possible for Int'l Paypal buyers.

E-checks are not possible with International paypal--as there is no brick and motar bank attached to their accounts....only their credit cards.

I guess I'm going to have to watch this thread for the next few months to see how many International charge backs are going to happen. Paypal makes it just too easy and a lot of foreign criminal rings (and even kids who got hold of someone's CC number) have discovered this.
