I was just reading another post about key word spaming. It was stating that you cannot put a bunch of "search" words in your item description. I also clicked over and read the Ebay definition of key word spaming...and I'm still unclear on this issue. I have some auctions running right now, for one type of item, but some have different designs. So I put-please see my other auctions, I have several other of these "widgets" up for auction this week with different designs. Is that a NO-NO? I hope not! I really don't want to have to revise all those auctions...waaaaa!

You can say "Please see my other auctions" but you can't include specific information about those objects. For example, you have an auction for an "X widget". You can say, "Please see my other widget auctions," but you can not say, "Please see my other auctions for "Y widgets" and "Z widgets.""
The reason is that if someone did a search for "Y widget", it would pull up ALL of your auctions. This can be very annonying, so when it happens, it is usually reported and the auctions are canceled.

I think I see what you are saying...in my auctions I say please see my other "widget" auctions, for different designs. If the person typed in "widget" in the search box...they would pull up a WHOLE BUNCH of auctions...not just mine, mine would be buried in there somewhere! And if they typed in design or several widgets..they would still get a whole bunch of different auctions, not just mine. Soooo, does this mean I don't need to revise? I guess I'm still a little lost! But thank you for the reply!

Short answer: In your case, you don't need to revise. It's fine if you say you have the same widget in other colors and patterns.
It's not fine if you say that you also have a Whatchamacalit, a Thingy, and a Gadget up for auction. When somebody does a search for a Widget, they should (within reason) only pull up the auctions that are selling Widgets.
