Dear Ebay Detective Agency,
I prefer to do business (not that it's any of yours) with sellers that I have had previous positive transactions with. In fact, I specifically search for my favorite sellers auctions knowing that I will receive a fair deal from them.
The same is true for retail establishments, restaurants, and hotels. I have no sinister motive--I just prefer to take my business to those who have previously treated me well.
Believe me or not, that sounds absolutely reasonable to me also.
As a matter of fact, I think 80 percent of the bids on my items right now are from people who have bought before.

A few hours ago I bid on an item. Didn't want to pay any more than $25 and that's what I bid. The only other bidder's proxy was higher and I let it go- it looks like shilling I admit- but it wasn't and this poor seller could get nailed.
(Of course they'll have a hell of a time ferreting out any previous transactions between me and the seller- there aren't any.)

It does NOT look like shilling. It just looks like you bid your max. Shilling has to do with bidding patterns--not a one time attempt to land an item.

The letter looks good to me too, though its a shame you have to resort to such methods.
Why do we have to waste time with such nonsense in the first place. Why cannot people mind their own business and realise that repeat customers do exist.
I have the feedback to prove it,2600 unique
3600 actual left,1000 repeats. That means I have regulars who bid repeatedly and often.
I must get a few emails a day from repeats asking me when I am going to put more items up.
As my items are different every time the only way to satisfy them all is to let them duke it out in bidding on ebaY.
I have to many other things to worry about like ebaY being down as my auctions end.
Or the fact that at this present momment I am having to use my older 200htz comp as my other got wiped out by a computer virus.
Which if I cannot get it fixed (McCafee did not catch the virus at all and my dat files are up to date)then I have to get a new one.
SO currently I am out of business as my scanner and camera as well as my printer fax are not set up on this computer.
I have been fighting for 2 days trying to get it back in order. So I gave up and have a friend looking at it.The system restore disk does not work and the manufacturer is not much help either being out of warranty.
These are the sort of things a seller has to deal with so why on earth do we need the added stress of this ebaY Detective Garbage.
Plus this almost reminds of the establishment of Communism where you have to be constantly looking over the shoulder of another human being making sure that they are in compliance with the state.
Mind you without an official Pres its hard to tell who is in charge anyway hahahahaha

Adrian - It is so close the will of the people could be established within the bounds of statistical certainty by flipping a coin. These two are not interested in the will of the people. The State Electors are to make sure that if the will of the people gets too far from what our rulers want we can be brought to heel.
add- way off topic sorry I will go over to the round table after a coffee.
