I was at the jewelry board chat at ebay today at 10:00, pinks made it pretty clear there would be no changes to the jewelry categories before the holiday buying season. Things seemed to just go round & round in a circle with not many answers. They did say they would see about adding a new Ethnic/tribal category, but not until end of december.

Didn't answer any questions really on why the Artist Jewelry categories were all taken away--they also said buyers should be able to find silver just fine in the "fine Jewelry" category. "just give it a chance, you'll see how great it will be" was the predominant answer by the pinks. Pretty disappointing. They will be at another chat tomorrow at 12:00 PST on the ebay jewelry board, don't know how much good it will do, but those concerned should try and get there, especialy jewelry artists since they don't seem to want to respond to this issue.

Face it...it's your turn to get screwed. At some point, every category gets to bend over for eBay.

You certainly have my sympathies.

The great and powerful eBay PLAYED with books, movies and music and now Smart Search does not work in them AT ALL .

I have gone from selling about 80% of my auctions to selling less than 25%.

Thanks a lot eBay.

We need to demand an answer tomarrow. They are totally blowing off the issue of artist jewelry. They know they screwed up and will not admit it. Shiva must of been one hell of a cartoonist/artist if she is letting us get railroaded like this. No self respecting artist would intentionally take away food from another artist's mouth when they, of all people would know how hard you have to work!!!

Talking to the pinks during these little "chats" is usually worse than useless, because they always assign people who:
1. Know nothing about the items in question
2. Know nothing about selling.
3. Know less about EBAYs past practices than you already do.
4. Know even less about whatever plans EBAY has for the immediate future.
3. have but one skill; copying pre-approved answers from the EBAY pink cheat sheet.

You come away frustrated and with sure and certain knowledge that you just wasted 1 hour of your life communicating with someone who doesn't even understand your problem. And who has no reason to figure it out.

My sales went from 80% to 20% as well...If this keeps up, I am going to have to go get another job...

The comment keeps being made on AW here that as soon as one Seller leaves, two more step in to try their luck. What no one is telling you, though, is that these new Sellers are leaving in droves as well.

Part two of the conversation??? is tomorrow - Jewelry category changes
Wednesday 12.00pm - 1.00pm PST

There are plenty of other sites that would welcome you with open arms. SmoothSale, Golds, Yahoo amongst others - all would be happy to have your business. If you are not happy with ebaY, move some or all of your business elsewhere, and let your customers know where you have moved to. Jewelry in particular appears to me to be an area that would work well at SmoothSale, particularly the jewelry made and sold by artisan/artist/craftspersons.
