Heads Up all who use PayPal that used X.com as bank verfication for PayPal.
If you opened another online bank Account in Hopes of useing this with PayPal better check the partner services.
Seems according to paypaldamon "brick and mortar" institution only can be verfide with thru PayPal now as your bank account.
compubank and other online banks
will not be accepted.

They also refuse to send a check to a PO Box which the boxholder has to present a valid ID to open, yet they will gladly send one to a street address which has no ID verification requirements at all.
What's wrong with these people? PayPal needs to use part of the fees they're charging to buy a clue.

This verifying my acct. makes me real nervous.
Could someone clarify for me...if an amount is disputed...can they FREEZE my regular bank account now that I'm verified?
If I am 'hasseling' with someone regarding payment or anything else... can Paypal go in and take the money from my regular bank acct?
Thanks...

"compubank and other online banks will not be accepted."
I wonder how I was able to verify a new online bank account 2 days ago with PayPal. Could you be in error? I assure you the online bank I submitted was accepted.
What just hit me on the head!!!

PayPal will now send a check to your PO Box only if you have verified a bank account. Even if an "unverified" user has been receiving checks at their PO Box for months, PayPal will no longer allow it unless the user verifies a bank account. One more way to force customers to give PayPal access to their bank account.

I've been using PayPal for about two months now with no problems.
I really like the service, and it has worked flawlessly for me so far, but all of your bad experiences leave me ready to remove my account.
I accept credit cards through my merchant account, but the fee's are very high for internet sales.
I have no problem at all paying PayPal their little piece, as their fee's are much lower then a merchant account.
I'm torn. Don't know what to do at this point.
It seems as though PayPal is headed downhill, and FAST.
I think I will remove my bank account, and change it at the bank.
Yea, that's what I'll do.
I can't take the chance of PayPal pillaging my account, and being silly, I actually used my main bank account to verify.
UGH!!
I have no choice PayPal...Thanks for the good service, but you got me running scared.
I'm outta there!

Auctionwatch user yisgood has set up an excellent web page that will give you more information about the PayPal saga. Since you are relatively new to PayPal, it might help you out. Here is the link:

NO. They can freeze your online Paypal account, but they cannot freeze your brick and mortar bank account. How could they? Only your B&M bank could do that.
Fountainhouse's answer may apply to Carole's second question, but not the first. to repeat, PP cannot freeze your regular bank account. If anyone disputes this, show me proof.

capotasto:
You are correct regarding their ability to "freeze" a personal bank account. However, my concern is what they can and have done, is to make charge backs for very little reason and without notification even months after a transaction has been completed.
This could really mess up your personal bank account! Too many people have posted remarks about this happening to them for me to feel comfortable giving Paypal my personal bank account information. Especially since they have no interest in "verifying" an account unless they can be funded through it or pull money from it! My compubank account was refused as verification because they cannot have access to my money. I opened it just for Paypal since X.Com closed.
Edited to add:
As I stated on another thread, I am not afraid of real chargebacks as I have over 1,000 positive feedbacks and would work out any problems that might occur with a buyer without involving Paypal. What I am worried about it buyer fraud, which Paypal invites with their policies! They don't have to notify you so the first time you would know funds were taken from your personal account would be when you checked your balance, or when you were at a checkout and found out you had no money left! (which has happened to others who have posted here)

Geez - just when I was about to open an online bank account so I could continue using PayPal safely, that is now down the tubes!!
I absolutely refuse to give them my regular bank account cause I don't want them making any transfers into it and getting my account closed cause my credit union thinks it is a business transfer.
PayPal is cutting off their nose to save their face!! They are losing good customers and scaring off the ones who are sitting on the fence.
I think I'll just continue taking good old checks and money orders until after the holidays (when credit card fraud is probably at its peak) and then see how things shake out with PayPal in 2001.

Hi,
I am checking on this issue as we speak. It will not be all on-line banks, but I am trying to find out which ones are acceptable/not acceptable.

Go open an account just for receiving money from Paypal and the other services. When you open the account, Specify that no electronic transfers OUT can be made with out your specific approval, it can be done, I assure you.
